Im just wondering with all these pics, aren't there too few techs to research?

Ahahahahahaha...... you haven't seen the tactical or the defense ones :D Plus without giving too much away, your resources will certainly be used up elsewhere.

Quality over quantity my friend. For example, from these few researches, the Republic gets a 30% cost and build time reduction for ships. This is hardly a negligible bonus.

Also recall that in vanilla, a very large part of the techs one was able to research were ability, structure, or ship access techs. In SoGE, most of those are unlocked from the onset of the game.

I understand, its just that something that always bothered me in strategy games, with some exceptions, is how easy it is to get from the beginning tech to the final tech, FoC is a good example, but I certainly wont judge until I see it myself, looking forward to it

With research in Sins, unlike games such as FoC, one also has to have the infrastructure and resources to afford research.

That being said, research is very much a work in progress in SoGE, and while these are solid overhauls they are by no means final or complete. In addition, when I look at research in Sins, and the civilian tree in particular, I do not think of it as being an additional resource or item that people can call upon, but as a way to make factions feel and play differently. Even if these research items are easy to get, if they make one player gear his economy and tactics differently than another player who has a different faction, then I am pleased at this result.

Seeing as how you have experience with strategy games in general, I'd be interested in hearing your feedback and tips once you've taken a crack at these trees.

Description

The Republic has a long and epic history, dating back tens of thousands of years. Eventually growing to encompass most of the known galaxy, it was easily the single most powerful galactic power prior to the Clone Wars. Due to this influence and history, the Republic has powerful cultural bonuses, including unmatched military buffs for fighting where friendly culture is present.

While Coruscant was not built in a day, at the beginning of the Clone Wars, the Republic's navy was not sizable and required rapid expansion to face the Separatist threat. Through calling upon it's various member worlds, and numerous shipyards, the Republic built up it's navy at unparalleled speed in great numbers. This is reflected in their research, which both speeds up ship production and reduces the purchase cost of new vessels.
