Backstory

When America launches the SDI constellation over the course of the late 1980s, the balance of power is drastically shifted in NATO's favor through an assumed monopoly on the use of ballistics missiles. Without fear of Soviet brinksmanship, President Reagan overtly calls for free elections in Warsaw Pact nations while clandestine services foster dissent from within. When First Secretary Jaruzelski is assassinated and Poland breaks out into civil war in 1989, Gorbachev is removed from power and replaced by Vladimir Kryuchkov. The Soviet Army mobilizes, easily crushing Polish resistance, and re-institutes Jaruzelski's martial law.

The Warsaw Pact's leaders fall into a siege mentality without a nuclear bargaining chip or domestic stability, and cease most support to first and third world Communist parties. Able to hold onto power but reduced to its Eurasian core, the Soviet Union modernizes its arsenal throughout the 90s while giving more military surplus to client states. However, these large arsenals prove expensive to maintain, and most of the Warsaw Pact is at a low state of readiness over the next two decades.

NATO finally uses its hegemonic strength in March 2010, launching Operation Baltic Freedom in support of a Latvian uprising. Within hours of an American ARG entering the Baltic Sea, the Soviet Army and other Warpac forces take Berlin and begin crossing the border to West Germany. Secretly unsure of SDI's reliability, NATO chooses not to launch its strategic nukes and begins mounting a conventional defense.

Scope

Shades of Conflict will be four missions released standalone as they're completed, and a campaign that will be start development in summer 2015. All standalone missions will be playable from the NATO and Warpac sides and fully voice acted for both factions. No new models or maps will be used for the standalone missions, but they will introduce new variants using TS's models and detailed, well-researched paint schemes for players and NPCs. The campaign is VVS only, but might be followed up by an Alaska ANG campaign afterwards.

Roadmap

News

I'll be releasing four independent missions while I work on another mod that I can't reveal until it's totally completed. After that's done, I'll begin development on the campaign.

Mission 1 - December 2014

English dialog script - 100% completed
English voice acting - Not started
Russian dialog script - ~10% completed, not translated
Russian voice acting - Not started
Mission scripting - ~25% completed
Mission textures - ~50% completed

A week into the war, NATO and Warpac forces fight for air superiority over the North German Plain. Raptors from the 48th TFW and Firkin-Bs from the 8th State Scientific Research Institute attempt to turn the tide in their side's favor.

Mission 2 - ~February 2015

The USS Barry Goldwater's air wing attempts to protect the USS Pennsylvania arsenal ship from a Soviet maritime strike. Soviet forces seek to reopen Baltic air and shipping corridors to the frontline by destroying this strategic asset.

Mission 3 - ~April 2015

A-10Cs and Su-25s attack huge armored columns in the opening hours of the war.

Mission 4 - ~June 2015

Japan takes advantage of the chaos in Europe to enforce its claims over the Kuril Islands. F-15J Kai+'s from Chitose engage patrols from the undermanned 11th Air Army.

Campaign - Development starting summer 2015

Desperate for relief on the European front, the Soviets launch an amphibious and airborne invasion of Alaska to draw American forces back to the homeland. You play as Major Nika Pugachyov, a middle-aged VVS pilot who was on course to become a cosmonaut before the war.

What it also needs is a Campaign where you can fly as a NATO Pilot (British, W. German, Etc.)... To determine the fate of the war in Central Europe.

So, what are some planes you may want skins for?

I'd be happy to help out with a few, just shoot me up a few planes, skins you want, of what squadrons. Just know that my paintschemes will be very easy to identify compared to your's..

So you need some English voice actors, I might be able to point you in the right direction. There are two guys I watch on YouTube that could be a fantastic addition to the mod.

Fist guys username is penguinz0 (More commonly known as Cr1TiKal) who mainly does comedy gameplay commentary but from an older video he said he was looking for a voice acting part.

And the other person is called BrendanielReads who mostly does Fanfiction and 4Chan story narrations but has an epic voice which would be perfect for this mod.

I have VAs available to me, I just haven't chosen them for roles yet. Thanks for the suggestions, though; I'll take a look (...listen?) to them too.
