This is my attempt at expanding Star Trek Starfleet Command III to its full potential. As a whole the mod adds 3 new empires and ships from 10 new cultures, several new missions and skirmish scripts, overall faster gameplay, and much improved graphics. In addition the game now supports widescreen resolutions and is compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you very much for all your hard work, it is appreciated
Amazing! Thank you very much! Just one minor thing: After installing the mod, if I try to launch it from SFC3.exe, I get a compatibility error and I am requested to run the game in 16bits mode.
Unfortunately putting the .exe into compatibility mode and selecting 16bits doesn't seem to change anything and I still get the error :\
Hmmm, I can open the PDF file with Adobe Reader on my system, even when it's still inside the zip file.
As to the 16bit setting, that has to work, at least on Windows 10. You can try also running Windows7 or WinXP compatibility mode, or if you're on Windows 7 setting your desktop to 16bit color mode: Superuser.com
If all of that doesn't work while the base game from GOG does work I would try a clean reinstall of the game (delete the game folder as well in case there's stuff like .dll files leftover from other mods/installations) and the mod because there's nothing about my mod that messes with the color schemes compared to the base game.
Edit: I'm glad the clean reinstall worked (assuming that was you on the GOG forum).
Thank you!!!! I've been looking for something that would work with the Gog version. Other upgrades don't seem to do so......and the original disc won't load on my PC. I've missed this game for a while and was glad to see Gog pick it up!
I can't seem to get the game to run in fullscreen.
How do you mean? Do you get a blank/black screen or do you get the game in a small window? And what's your desktop resolution?
It launches in windowed mode. My monitors resolution is 2560x1440. Even though I set the resolution to match my monitors native resolution in the SFC launcher, it still will only run in windowed mode.
*Edit* Nevermind I figured it out. I saw your other reply to someone about the directx settings and that worked for me. Now I've got another problem though. The game seems to micro stutter ever couple seconds making it a little difficult to play.
Glad you were able to solve the windowing.
I'm not quite sure what causes the micro stuttering in this game (I know it's not my mod, because the clean GOG-version has it too), but I did get some micro stutter myself when I upgraded to the latest nvidia driver, rolling back to the previous version solved it for me.
I installed it but it doesnt seem to want to work properly, every time i try to run it it wants to change my screen resolution then wont open full screen it runs in a small window on a larger black screen
Do you get to see the whole game(after the intro movie), or only parts of it and what is your screen resolution?
Once the game starts I can set my monitor back to 1440p and the game takes the whole window but wont go full screen for whatever reason. It is playable in the window though. Also I got to say this was one my favorite childhood games and when this came out from gog and then i found this awesome mod I was very excited thank you for this!
Thanks!
If you have a desktop resolution greater than 1920x1080 the game can't natively keep up with that, but you can (at least this works when I set my desktop to a higher resolution) force the game to scale to a higher resolution through the GOG-wrapper. To do this you can either open dxcfg.exe in the game folder, or in the GOG-launcher click on the button to the right of the "Play" button and go to Additional executables -> DirectX Settings, then set the Display Mode to your desktop resolution, for example "2560x1440 60Hz".
Dude you the best Thank you very much! once again this mod is awesome. Great job!
You're welcome and I'm glad you're enjoying the mod!
I'm experiencing two issues:
1) On resolution 1024x768 the mouse detection of a button is offset to about a centimeter above.
2) Any resolution above 1024x768 presents black bars along the bottom and right, obscuring the game screen. (To be fair, this also happens in the vanilla game, but I thought I would mention it because you seem to know a tonne about the game. Hoping you've encountered this before).
Thank you for all the hard work updating and balancing a very poorly supported game. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated.
Thanks!
I remember getting that same problem on some installs. You can play around with the settings in dxcfg.exe in the game folder, and sometimes a reinstall will simply solve it, this game is weird like that.
Federation Mission: THE LUDDITE SYNDROME can't be completed (the team cannot be transported to the planet; the planet has shields, I took took those down.. no luck...)
Yes, that happens sometimes. It's an issue from the stock game that I don't know how to fix, here's some info and hopefully something helpful to you: Dynaverse.net
Thnak you!
So i'm a bit thick. Downloaded the file, extracting to Winzip, not sure where to unzip to. Am I replacing the STA3 folder entirely, or is it a folder within that I am extracting to? :)
Genuinely, the reduced colour mode, i'm doing it. That is the one setting that is greyed out. I can click everything else, except that.
Hmmm, I don't know how to fix that. Are you even on Windows 10?
You're supposed to extract into the folder, but the installer should automatically find it anyway.
Hm antivir Thinks the File is a Virus ðŸ˜
Yes, some antivirus programs consider any .exe installer not signed by a major software company to be viruses.
hm a Big Problem with latest GOG Update... the Game Resolution is broken... Game starts Correctly but ingame is... hm... look at this Screenshot... Cdn.discordapp.com
Pls i need Help :'(
You have to set the resolution again in the directx settings: in the gog galaxy launcher click on the settings buttons to the right of the play button and select additional executables and then directx settings, or open dxcfg.exe in the game's install folder.
Ah wonderful, it worked in part. I just have to figure out the best settings. if I set it to 1024x768 I get 4 black bars but in widescreen resolution. At 1920x1080 it no longer works again
I just installed the mod ... and the game is only partially on the screen. The game is shifted down right so that there is a large black border on the top and left.
Any suggestions?
The latest patch from GOG should have fixed the issue if you have an AMD GPU: Gog.com
For the person above you with the same problem setting the directx settings again in worked: in the gog galaxy launcher click on the settings buttons to the right of the play button and select additional executables and then directx settings, or open dxcfg.exe in the game's install folder.

Anyone know any multiplayer communities for this game now that JanB added D4v1ks' Launcher?
Jan_B
I tried using the files here but I kept getting missing .dll files errors when launching the game and couldn't figure it out. So, I found an alternate basic version that did install (Windows 10), and worked, except the Vessel Library, Refit in campaign, and in a Mission neither Ship Hull Images will display (left side screen). The actual ships themselves in the center of the mission screen do display and function as supposed to. I added the latest all-in-one Mod with all the additional ships. The game still functions so far.
But to repeat, for example, if I open the Vessel Library everything displays except for the Ship images. The icons and load out are all there properly. I used to mod this game years ago and wonder if something in the shipnames.txt or DefaultLoadOut.txt are not matching up.
I also wouldn't mind eliminating the Casino...
To remove the Casino mission from the story campaigns (I already removed it from the conquest campaigns) go into Assets/Scripts/Campaigns and remove "Meta_Casino.scr" from any .mct campaign files you want it gone from, but be sure to change the numbering of subsequent missions so they are sequential.
Unfortunately the missing hull images, etc... seems to be a bug of the game itself on some systems, there are threads about it for the stock version of the game on the GOG forum.
Jan_B,
Is there a way to extend the Single Player (Borg/etc.) Campaigns so that they don't end so soon? When your economic points get so high or so many planets captured. I'd like to continue playing and, basically, beat the entire quadrant but if I take another planet or sector the campaign ends.
yes i have the same issue how do we fix this
do you have a more direct link please
How do you even start the mod? I installed it and run the game but it's just original starfleet command 3, no mod.
did you ever find a solutino to this? i ran install, but when i open game there are no additional storylines
I'd really like to play this but it dosen't seem to do anything beyond getting the game into widescreen. Is there any way to see if the mod is indeed running because I struggle to see much of a difference...
I'll reply to myself! figured it out. It was working. I thought it was more playable races for campaign but no. It does add more races to campaign and missions and most of those ships have been added to other races for the purpose of skirmish mode. It's rather subtil until you encounter these species in your campaign but they are there.
Is there a version of this that can apply without the game balance changes or the additional ships? I have some mod ships I rather like to use, but I also love the visual updates this mod provides.
This is a really cool mod. My only problem with it is it doesn't seem to work with Federation Conquest campaign. I see almost no missions from the base games (Scan, Intruder Alert, etc.) All I can do is attach enemy ships, planets, and starbases in the same sector. There's also an issue where even when I win a starbase or planet attack, the game says I suffer a defeat and disbands my fleet. I can't seem to capture any sectors either. Very odd.
Are shields supposed to be nerfed on player ships? No matter the refit, the power allocation seems to be very small in comparison to primary and heavy weapons. Also, enemies seem to have normal power to their shields, after some experimentation in the skirmish battles.
Hi Jan_B, I just came across your mod today and I can't get it to work. Getting the base game to cooperate is a pain in and of itself (removing the video files helps). I've tried your above advice, but no matter what resolution I set, I either get a completely black screen (2560x1440), a small part of the game screen showing surrounded by a *large* black border (1080p), or a functional interface but tiled mission screen (720p and lower). Windowed or fullscreen, that's the issue, I always have black bars on the sides.
I reinstalled the base game, and the problem persists. Any ideas? Thanks!
Small update: it looks like I'm having the same issue as one of the guys above who had the problem fixed with an AMD GPU patch GOG put out. That's now rolled into the game from my understanding, but not fixing the issue for me, re:game down and right and not totally visible.
I have been trying to get this game to work on my win 8.1 laptop for ages, and this get's me closer than ever before
I still have one problem, whenever I start the game, even if I set the reduced color mode to 16 bit color on a clean install, it still tells me I need to set it to 16 bit color mode
I just installed the patch. When I launch the game it still says patch 1.01 build (534). How can I verify that the patch installed successfully? How do I access the upgraded content?
having same issue... not seeing the new storylines listed when i go into game
Same issue, I can't seem to solve it.
Is the mod supposed to be install on top of the base game, in the same location and how do you that the mod is actually installed?
I installed the mod in it's default location, which was my base game folder and i can't see any change to the game
