I have been playing STA3 for a wee while now and I am so confused on several fronts.
First of all I play the call to arms mod.
The YouTube vids of people playing, believe me I do watch but they always assume the viewers are people who know everything. I don't and I have sought answers but stuck on several fronts. Believe me i've watched Gul, I've watched many other players and theres lots of talk but what this game needs is an explanation video of what does what. Thats not a dig, but new players are in the dark on some fronts and I'd like to point them out so that new guys aint lost and more people come in :)
1. Refinery's. I was always clueless on them, I always thought find a planet with lots of asteroids and put it there, but I do that and I don't see much of a difference in output. Some youtubers say find your mineral planets and get the reward which I can't see happening, some say its the gravity well plus the linked wells too. So you may have a 1 asteroid planet you could place your refinery in, but its surrounded by six linked planets to the gravity well and you get the rewards from them too. Whats the truth, because i have tried both and just aint seeing it, my minerals still go up 4 per tick, regardless. I am seeing nothing on neither. So in dumb dumb speak can someone please explain? :)
I am literally going heres a planet with 5 asteroids and 3 linking planets and an asteroid field, all colonised and working, and the increase barely goes up. Where is the refinery reward? :)
2. Diplomacy. I try to research it all. I do research it all. Fed side I do ambassador ship, diplomatic alliances and then I research the empires. I never get past stage one on the empire front. If i play Cardassian it says you need to spend one point in Cardassian union, but there is nothing there... Well there is, its researched, but it doesn't advance. Research stage one, the rest is just nothing. I've even checked the home world but the only station there is the one that says call in heroes. I can't expand the diplomacy tree. If you play fed, you can do stage one on all three other factions, but nothing more. I've tried maxing out the reputation but nothing. How do you expand this? Someone please tell me how to get 1 research point in Cardassian union?
3. Every game, the first thing you should do is send out your scouts. When I watch YouTube players they just click explore and off they go and the explore the map. My scouts seem to go to next system then sit on the outside. Then they're destroyed. What am I missing?
I know research is key, fed you do interlink node then go up that tree. Find planets with refinery bonuses. I am just not seeing the rewards. Maybe i'm on a wrong defunct or mod that has since been updated, but when I play against an enemy, my allies either just sit on their home world whilst the enemies explore and conquer, or I have to fight a 2v2 with a non "ally". HELP PLEASE! :)
Get me thru this, because this is what makes me fail, and i'm about 8 months in and this is whats beating me. Then i'll play you in game! I have other questions, but these are my top three :)
