Rise of Three Kingdoms is a total conversion mod for Medieval II: Total War: Kingdoms, with the aim of the mod being to completely recreate the Three Kingdoms Era (190 to 280 CE) as accurate and true to history as possible. The mod features hundreds of historic characters with their own unique biographies and titles, dozens of period accurate armaments, unique mechanics to either usurp the throne and establish your own dynasty or support the restoration of the Han, historic mission trees for the five main factions from the era, and the inclusion of various non-Han peoples such as the Nanman, Xianbei, Nanyue, and Goguryeo.

Description

The v5.4 Update makes some significant fixes and improvements to the mod, including an assortment of updated battle models and units, new unit battle banners, tweaked experience gain for several battle-related traits, multiple historic characters 'coming of age' via event, as well as the improvement of roads, bridges, and ports on the campaign map.

Obviously there isn’t a virus. False positive, which some specific AVs flag as this specific Trojan for .exe files over a specific size. Windows Defender is notorious for this.

To make your pc recognize the file you need to go to windows security - virus and threat protection - Manage and then on exclusions chose either the file itself or the folder you’re going to put the file in.

Hi Author. I've noticed that when a non-aligned general/official is recruited, the army type it leads immediately switches from infantry/archers to cavalry. How does it prevent this switching? Thank you.

You can’t prevent that from happening, as it is hard-coded Medieval 2 behavior. Whenever a named character is bribed (or comes of age, man of the hour, etc.) and joins a faction, their bodyguard type becomes the default for whatever faction they join. For all factions the default type is cavalry.

After the recruitment, is there a way to change the bodyguard type by editing the file? If yes, which file? Thanks.

No, there is not a way to change that.

Hello Author. I've noticed that the system randomly likes to assign adopted children to faction heirs rather than faction leaders. This sometimes makes the adopted son much older than his father, which seems very strange in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Can the system give priority to adopting sons to faction leaders instead of his next generation?

Not that I’m aware of. As far as I know, that is a hardcoded restriction of Medieval 2.

Seether - ModDB,

I am playing Yuan Shu now. What are the benefits to the Huainan faction by announcing the end of Han and establish of Zhong dynasty?

If I do this, I expect a free statement upgrade at capital or extra money, but there doesn't seem to be any benefit other than making more enemies.

Thank you.

It’s exclusively for RP. The only tangible benefits are the availability of the 9 Minister ancillaries, which have decent bonuses for the officers that receive them. Which is more than what Yuan Shu got, as all he received in history was all his neighbors attacking him.

Seether - ModDB,

I have encounter the crash again as previous when stated a new game playing as Yuan Shu. Unable to recover, it might be due to the software flaw. Is it possible to check the root cause with the below attached save game file? Thank you.

Seether-ModDB,

May I know if this fix will be included in the next July release? Thank you.

As I said in the message I sent you, the issues you have are due to your hardware. There is literally nothing I can do to ‘fix’ such issues.

Hi Seether_ModDB,

Thank you for your reply. I just realized that your last private message wasn't in my Inbox.

I'm really confused what the hardware limitations of my system are causing this problem. I've played Medieval 2 for over 4K hours with various mods and none of them have anything like this. What are the minimum requirements for rotk mods? Can you please suggest which of the following parts of my system listed below are critical to generate this type of issue?

Intel i5-9300H CPU 2.4GHz
8GB RAM 2400MHz
Nvdia GeForce GTX1050 2GB
Windows 11 Home 64-bit

Otherwise, I will wait for the next July release and try again if nothing can be done now. It's an Excellent mod in overall.
