Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
Early into his presidency, Nikolai Suvorov enacted a sweeping reform of the Russian armed forces, including a policy to eliminate the systemic abuse of conscripts and the creation of a fully professionalised, better paid and educated corps of non-commissioned officers. By the late 2030s, a new culture culture of camaraderie and leadership had taken root in the Russian Army, and has since been best exemplified by the Sergeants who would lead and support their soldiers in combat in a variety of ways. They can be equipped with infrared optics to detect hidden threats, call in mortar fire on nearby enemies and inspire their comrades to fight with utmost determination. Better trained in close quarters combat than the average Russian infantryman, the Sergeants typically pass up on rifles in favour the KS-23, an extremely powerful shotgun made from rejected autocannon barrels. The gun is loaded with buckshot for close quarters anti-personnel combat but can also be loaded with a solid steel projectile for use against light vehicles, pending the requisition of advanced infantry munitions.

The Ukrainian manthra that all Russians are sub-humans\inhumans is laughable and delusional.
Please go touch grass.
Feels really nice to see unit showcases on this moddb page once again, brings me back to the good old days.
judging by the text descript and possible role: im gonna assume hes a camaraderie aura buff unit for other infantry without needing a friendly infantry death to generate it normally. also the funny big boy shotgun, awesome.
Not exactly. What you got right is that it is a versatile support unit.
However, the main role of the Sergeant is stealth detection. The camaraderie buff is a manual ability. And the mortar ability is similar in function to the GLA overwatch
i see, only partially correct lol. guess it now implies that conscripts wont be getting their thermal vision upgrade anymore then
Correct. In addition, Sergents will works exactly like Conscripts, i.e. can also detect from vehicles or garrison
Stealth detector is amongst the most useful ability of conscript, so now from my humble point of view conscript become basically nothing but cannon fodder ?
Conscripts still have the ability to capture buildings, which the Sergeants don't have.
MaelstromX103 can you give felin riflemen this ability too? Just make it slower than the engineers ability.
No. And for several reasons: it would make the engineer way less valuable, it would remove the uniqueness of the setup, it would probably be imbalanced, unless the Felins get it WAY slower than any other unit in the game (to the point where it wouldn't even be worth it)...
Is it come from the famous RPG game freedom fighter, the tier 2 enemy of Soviet is the sergeant with shoot gun
That would be a coincidence. The sergeant has been mostly designed to be the primary Russian stealth detection. Weapons and abilities are just a plus
Dimitri needs to be snappy when the sergeant is charge.
If he is not, he will do 50 push-ups :p
@MaelstromX103: can't wait to see the duel between a Russian Sergeant and USA Vanguard. :3
Haven't tried yet...
Wanna bet on the result ?
Nah, I'm basically broke, can't afford to take the risk :P
Nah, just betting for fun...
"Guessing" is what I meant. So, what's your guess ?
(late reply, sorry)
My guess is that Sergeant will give a greater damage per punch but have slower fire-rate, corresponding to his the pump-action large-calibre shotgun.
Probably the Sergeant may lost against the Vanguard in the combat since he seems more like a manager and spiritual big brother of the troops, while Vanguard are a more "pure" super-fighter.
The question does not concern the sergeant: Will there be MLRS like HIMARS , Mars II , Smerch , A-100 and some kind of ersatz MLRS from trucks or just Katyushas for GLA in the game?
Maybe. Maybe not. That's classified
ok mister KGB agent. I've managed to dodge the draft so far, so until I'm taken to war with the ECA, I'll be asking questions.
Please do. I will be happy to answer them.
However, I don't always check pictures to look over the comments. You will have better results by asking your question in the front page
Ah, and I'm not from the KGB, but from the DGSE
Desole pour l'erreur. But seriously, I would like to ask another question. Which unit do you think should be added? I mean, for example, the French Foreign Legion or the GRU special forces. In my opinion, ECA lacks a spy (Red Alerts reference) who would be either French or British and could not only kill silently, but also lure a unit to his side and it would work like this: He approaches the unit and lures him to his side with the help of his special ability, but the enemy does not see that the unit betrayed him until he starts attacking. Recruited limit for one agent: 4 units. The rest of the functionality would be similar to the GLA saboteur and maybe a little from hackers. Weapons: USP or Beretta with a silencer, a knife for stealth kills. What do you think ?
As for spy units, ECA has the commandos that can kill infantry without revealing themselves. They come in 3 variants: a medic who heals every infantry around, a tank hunter with a recoilless rifle that can't be jammed or intercepted, and a demo specialist who can place powerful demo charges without being spotted.
Instead of a hardcoded limit, commandos are limited by the fact that can be only deployed via a gp with a long down time
Thanks for your opinion . But I would like to hear your opinion about what kind of units are in game you wanna see .
I really like wheeled gun platforms like the AMX10-RC, Ratel 90 or the Stryker MGS. More agile than a regular tank, but more fragile. Could make great ambush/tank destroyer units
I also think there are not enough tank destroyers in the mod and the main game. In my opinion, they would fit perfectly into the RTS concept. I was thinking about adding self-propelled mortars like the M1129 Mortar Carrier for the US and the 2C7 Pion for Russia. How do you look at adding them? In my opinion, for Russia, with their artillery doctrine, the 2C7 Pion would fit perfectly.
Russia will have one of its general specialised in tactical ballistics. One can guess it means he will get some pretty scary artillery...
Considering that Russia has one of the super weapons is a three-barreled artillery cannon ..... In general, I would not want to be next to the Europeans at this moment. As for the 2C7 Pion, why shouldn't it be a unique unit for the General of Tactical Ballistics?
Maybe it will be included, maybe not. There are many awesome artillery units in Russia. The 2s7 of course, but the 2s4 tyulpan and its 240mm mortar quite qualifies as a terrifying unit
Thats right . 240mm calibre must cause the soldiers to panic .
By the way. How do you look at adding the BMPT Terminator to the game?
We couldn't find a role it could do without overlapping with what is already in game.
At best it would be a "jack of all trades, master at nothing" unit, at worst it would be a duplicate of something else. The best idea was to make it a general-specific replacement for the Grizzly, but since it is a Tier 0 unit, it would have to be ridiculously weak compared to its potential, and it would bring nothing that the Grizzly can't do.
Not saying it won't happen, maybe one day we will have a bright idea to include it, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that
What are your thoughts on adding the POW system to the game? With prisons or their alternatives like in China, with POW trucks. The idea is easy to implement, especially since the game has Detention Camp and Propaganda center. It remains to give a prison for the GLA a prison and a truck (or if you want you can remake the prison) and make a prison with a truck for the ECA and Russia.
POW is already implemented in the game, for USA. You can capture units by using flashbangs. Once captured, they are transferred to your Detention camp and will allow you to use an unique GP that reveals enemy positions.
And what about the rest? For example, I see that General Alexander can add a bunch of mechanics. For example, he could experiment on prisoners of war.
It will remain exclusive to USA
And Aleks doesn't care about prisoners. The very few occurrences he makes some, he uses them as target dummies for aspiring shock troopers.
Well, why in theory he does not use the prisoners as cannon fodder? After much torture and brainwashing through hard drugs, they could go insane, lose their former personality and become just impersonal shells whose only desire would be to kill and die themselves.
Conscripts work just fine for cannon fodder.
Also, seeing your troops being electrocuted to death or perforated by mini-rockets is far more efficient on the battlefield than having to subdue and bring back the prisoner later.
Regarding prisoners: it's hard to run away while high on amphetamine, LSD and heroin when your arms are broken, and you are guarded by ruthless thugs who, if caught, will cut out your tongue.
Well, let's say for simplicity's sake that POW will stay for USA, and whatever they do to them gives intel. Details are up to everyone to imagine
Another question: what kind of features will the VSU sniper and Spetsnaz units have?
That's classified
Secret materials
Hi again . Q: Will there be a Mobile chemist from Generals 2 for the Chemical General GLA in the game?
Maybe, maybe not. That's classified
Hi , how do you look at adding PLA special forces units for China and which general can they be given to? General of the secret police or general of special weapons?
Secret Police General will get some spec ops units. Details classified.
Special Weapons General will have exclusive access to the Disruptor and Nukeneer, other generals will have replacements of course
Do you have any plans to add mini factions (such as UN peacekeepers and so on) to the story. In such factions, there may be 1/2 unit and that's it, but they can fill the plot void.
There is already the Militia as mini faction, used so far for the Arena game mode.
And as of now, there is no plan for using it elsewhere, nor any plans for another mini faction.
is it planned to add unique units for the aviation general? Like Airborne or something
Every general will have unique units
Hello, here is the question: Is there a plan to add a Leopard tank for the US and / or a tank general? Or do you want to see it in the game?
