Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
With much of continental Europe under Russian control, the British Special Air Service, Royal Marine and Parachute Regiments remained some of the few special forces that still operated in direct coordination with ECA high command. The Commandos had their finest hour in the late autumn of 2048, after a sizeable detachment of Russian airborne troops had seized control of the European space centre in French Guiana in an attempt to shut down the Solaris network. With only a few firewalls between them and complete domination over Europe's most important power source, its satellite communications and space capabilities, the three elite units were dispatched to South America at once. After a dramatic night time insertion, the Commandos converged on the space port which was held by a large, dug-in VDV force. Against seemingly impossible odds, they managed to reach the command centre and re-routed control of the vital space assets to Spain, preventing a major disaster after the Russians had already used the satellite 'Newton' to fire a solar burst at the USS Spirit of Freedom off the coast of Ireland, rendering one of her flight decks inoperable and forcing the Americans to destroy the satellite with one of their own Particle Cannons.
In combat, the Commandos can only be called into action by experienced commanders. They will then covertly infiltrate the designated area on a moment's notice. One Commando section consists of two anti-tank specialists with Carl Gustav recoilless rifles, two demolitions experts who can place their charges anywhere on the field and one combat medic, all of whom are armed with a specops-modded L85A3 rifle.
ECA have alot of nice Infantry
ECA have alot of nice everything, except a nice airport :D
You can thank the Russians for that part.
:p
youre right
cant we at least have a story where ECA found a secret airpot they hided under bushes? xD

He shaved!!!,Price already immortal he could look nicer and younger without mustache?!
Two Soldiers, two Demomens and a Medic.
Sorry, been playin TF2 a lot lately :P
That's fairly accurate actually, just not in the context of TF2.
Comr4de Can you guys maybe make the bombs OR the recoilles rifles a bit stronger? A bit of a buff to the primary weapon would also not be too bad.
They still use the L85 and the Carl-Gustav Panzerfaust in 2048?
Well, the the fluff calls it an L85A3, suggesting that it's been modernised once again, but we added it because we rather have iconic, recognisable infantry weapons on special units rather than making up too many tacky 'wooo look, it's the future' pieces.
Same deal with the CG. It's a powerful weapon, it'll most likely use an updated shell to defeat future tank armour, but there isn't much in the way of improvement you can do to something as fool-proof as a recoilless rifle. Plus, the CG produces a rather unique sound which we actually incorporated into its in-game depiction.
Generally speaking, we add such things because they are awesome and recognisable, not necessarily because they'd still be 'tacticool' by the time the story is set.
just pointing out the RPG-7 and ppsh41 is still in use by the chinese XD
After playing COD1, cant blame them
^^ That was a joke
That seems reasonable.
They are left-handed I presume?

These are ******* gay!
This game was created in 2003.
Don't expect extraordinary graphics in here :P
Naff off, troll. Get yourself some rope, a tree and do humanity a favour.

Nigga I will kill your family
Lol, you're silly. :P
I've seen kids half you're age actually come up with coherent constructive criticism rather than blatantly spew out some childish non-sense - time to grow up.
Love the way the ECA British Commandos talk about Porno mags when on a mission! Funny as!
PS: The SAS are NOT Commandos FFS!
Love the way the ECA British Commandos talk about Porno mags when on a mission! Funny as!
PS: The SAS are NOT Commandos FFS!
The SAS were the first SF created in the western world and are the models upon which all other SF units are based on. (DELTA Force - Charles Beckwith Etc) and the SAS deserve more respect than being called Commandos. . .Commandos were created in Scotland in WW2 by order of Churhill for smaller raids against the Germans.
These blokes aren't called 'Commandos' because they are somehow associated with the WW2 British Commandos. By itself, the term 'Commando' describes an 'operative of an elite light infantry or special operations forces often specializing in amphibious landings, parachuting or rappelling' (Wiki) and the word itself originates from Afrikaans/Dutch.
In short, these aren't -THE- well-known British Commandos from WW2, but the actual military role of SAS and the likes can be described as a Commando-role and we called them that in-game because they may be SAS, Marines and Paras in-lore, but treated as -one- unit in-game to avoid tech-tree redundancies.
Casual fridays - everyone's rocked up in jeans and a tshirt.
Those are actually just blue pants. :P
Also, I still think the ECA infantry would look better in grey than blue, to distinguish them from USA infantry.
Then again, American infantry would look much more realistic in tan/beige uniforms (desert camo), but that'd deviate from the classic style of the original game.
If the explosive charges were about twice as powerful, this would be perfect.
I agree that the explosives seem underpowered. In my opinion, if they were 50% stronger then they'd be perfect.
You sure you know what you're doing? Or did you just like, Google 'tactics'?
