Ah, you've changed it significantly I see. Curious.

The overall design is amazing however, I always liked the concept of the Vengeance. The backstory you've written is well thought out as well but I will miss the cloaking field.

What of the Reciprocator however?

Yeah, whenever I thought about this ship I always found myself kitbashing with the parts it had to make different variations and thinking how cool they were...then coming back to the ship we were given and just being disappointed. Lol.

The final design strips off the oddly placed bottom engine because...that would just spin the starship right round baby and it made little sense. I also didn't like the idea of a ship without shields. FoC used the excuse "the cloaking generator uses too much energy" which makes sense but then, why not shields when its uncloaked, no shields when it is? I know the answer is that they were too lazy to design that game mechanic... That said, I think shields fits the typical Mandalorian MO more than cloaking. The Mandos will have cloaking units...just not this one.

The Reciprocator will be taken out of the mod altogether in favor of the Protector-class (info in the news section under Factions and Units).

Why blue lasers however? I don't recall all to clearly but I believe most Mandalorians units use red all across the board.

I might be mistaken.

The original Vengeance uses Mass Drivers and since I'm not having any of those in the mod, for any unit, I was free to do what I wanted. In the Legacy-era some units with state-of-the-art weaponry are described as having blue-colored lasers. Since this is supposed to be a cutting-edge warship, that seemed appropriate.

Some NR units will have them as well (very few). The Mandalorians will be a mix of all colors though (red, blue, green), reflecting the wide array of technology they create or adopt.

That's a shame. Mass Drivers are powerful and unique weapons, especially once the Verpine enhance them which I imagined you may have considered due to their relationship with the Mandalorians.

As for variations in colour; from what I'm led to believe blue lasers have additional ion properties, green is military grade with high damage, red is mass produced, purple is among the most rare variants but I am unsure where yellow would fit in this hierarchy. I leave that to the experts and the modder to decide.

I've never heard that in regards to lasers, actually. Where did you get that info?

As for the Verpine, didn't their partnership with the Mandalorians come after the Vong war?

It is a belief held by some across various communities, most notably the SWTOR community. It has some logic to it. Would you like me to see if I can find the source?

Possibly, my lore on post-JCW era Mandalorians has never been great and I am rusty in general.

If you can find it, thatd be awesome. If not, oh well. The logic makes complete sense and I'm just surprised I had never heard it before.

I'm not sure about it in depth but in the Expanded Universe (now legends), it had to do with quality.
Green - High Quality - Imps have access to better tech.
Red - Base Quality - Rebels use cheap/stock tech.
Blue - Ionized - Republic using it since they fought Droids. (Maybe useful against ships shields when you don't have dedicated Ion canons?)
But I think that explanation varies from source to source, last I read it went something like that.

That's the problem with multiple authors and creative preferences...sometimes you get continuity issues. Either way, Republic using ionized bolts because droids does make sense. The canon universe has Resistance fighters using blue though too so who knows really.

In expanded (kotor to be exact) ion weapons had a stun chance, thus it would make sense for security forces and the general good guys to use ion charged weapons, as the might incapasitate instead of just kill

How will you make the ship face forward when all your turret attachment bones will face to the left of the front of the ship? When most of your ships firepower is turreted, this is the trade off, your ship will not face forward when told to attack, unless you fixed this. In which case, I'd love to hear how you did that :)

That's the thing about naval warfare though...broadsides and the like. I've never been one to feel like they NEED to face each other, they just need to be positioned to deliver the most amount of firepower they can.

In any case, the side turrets won't rotate side-to-side, they just aim up and down so the ship itself will be forced to rotate in order to aim those guns.

Ah, the workaround. Alrighty.

Though I do feel the need to mention that ships like star destroyers were specifically built to face the enemy head on, without a broadside. I feel like equating actual naval warfare to star wars, even though it's mostly based on WWII, is not a valid comparison.

well we are talking 3 dimensions vs 2... there really is no earthy comparison. However, just because the ISD was designed to face head-on, that doesn't mean. all ships were. It's basically a cost benefit equation...smallest profile vs largest damage output. For the ISD, this works head-on.

This is actually correct. In lore, many people, including Grand Moff Tarkin mentioned that the ISD's tactical design was quite flawed, but its sheer firepower and the intimidation factor more than made up for its shortcomings.

Compare with the Hapan Battle Dragons which were made to be a threat from any possible angle.

I never actually used the cloak feature on it myself, and though I loved the original long-legged design, this one is simply gorgeous!

Also pewpew, blue lasers are the best lasers.

Yeah, it always seemed too slow to make good use of a cloak for positioning around a target, and the self-destruct didn't seem powerful enough to warrant a stealthy suicide attack.

Besides, it uncloaks when you activate self destruct anyway and it almost always gets killed before it can actually blow up.

Yes, self-destruct is pretty much not going to be a thing in RotM. I've found it to be rather useless. The destructive potential of the ability and they way Petro set it up isn't worth the cost of the unit.

The expression "Beef" just means when two people are having a meaningless ****-measuring contest over the internet, usually to the benefit of both since both fanbases engage eachother in ****-flinging, which causes both content creators to become known to a wider audience. It's a thing youtubers do and I thought it'd be fun to tag it here in a joking manner. I then killed it by explaining the joke. I'm fun at parties. I never go to parties. I just sit in my room making star destroyers.

Description

The Vengeance frigate schematics were originally drawn up by Mandalorian starship designers several decades before the Clone Wars but due to limited resources and technology, the design could never be realized. When the Empire invaded Mandalore, the plans for the Vengeance were discovered and taken to Imperial engineers aboard the first Death Star, who worked to recreate some of the theorized technology used in the frigate's weaponry. Some of the advancements were nearing success when the first Death Star was destroyed, and therefore all research along with it.

Criminal warlords scouring the wreckage would discover many Imperial secrets, the Imperial research on the Vengeance among them. One such warlord even attempted a modified design that included a cloaking device but the overall product was crude and soon forgotten.

However, as new starship designs are in demand, Mandalorians have taken back the designs and applied modern technologies to fully realize the ship that was only dreamt of by Mandalorians years before. This new vehicle of destruction is small, fast and boasts an impressive shield generator, nestled safely between two armored pylons on the rear of the ship. Additionally, it has four automated anti-fighter turrets that have full 360 degree fields of fire to protect it from bombers and fighter craft. However, the true reason to fear the weapon is the two dual heavy-turbolaser turrets mounted on either side of the hull. These massive guns are rivaled only by the cannons on the latest warships such as the Corellian CD-10 Destroyer. The massive weapon and shield output was made possible when the Mandalorians chose to forego the cloaking generator installed by criminals who would rather hide in the shadows.

Truly, the only downside to this interstellar terror is the sheer cost of production. The Mandalorians considered the advancements in warship technology to be worth the expense but these ships are rarely seen in large numbers as a result.
