Each's factions mine will be different UEF's is a Proximity Mine so it can be triggered when a unit is in a radius of the mine, Im also working on a systems for the mines they will be invisible to all units a aspect a few like mine sweepers and the ACU.
a mine sweeper unit? wouldnt that just be a detector? like a mobile omni sensor? will omni sensors reveal mines? if omni sensors dont, i think they should put whatever can hide them from omni sensors on their units instead.
but then a mine sweeper not only finds them, it destroys them. but when they are already found by omni sensors? i think omni sensors would detect invisible units as well as mines. why wouldnt they? and if they are detected, wouldnt they alert other units as to where they are?
and if they can find them, why not shoot at them?
unless minesweepers have a special revealer only available in short range, but if mines can be made invisible, why not make the t1 units invisible when stationary?
Thats why i said i'm working on a system ;) but you are right but i was just saying a mine sweeper for a idea, It will be a mobile omni unit which can detect stealthed units to stealth is a very small part of SC2 at the moment.
I hope they will be very powerful like the Nuke mines in TA. Because if not, it will not be very useful to build them, if one mine dinĀ“t kill a fatboy or Megalith. ;)
that would be way too overpowered. mines are for the purpose of immobilizing big targets and killing smaller targets.
if you think about it, these have to be gargantuan mines, might as well be equal to the explosive crates that the shuttle from avatar used as bombs. thats what it would take to take down an experimental. like avitus said, the cybran t1 missile bot is just a tad bit bigger than a truck.
otherwise youd have to make them super tiny. in real war, even the biggest mines were only as big as a small tv.
if i think about mines, i would like to propose a system, that mines get layed down by a special minelayer unit, with a command like in the MAX/earth games:
you can select the minelayer, and then give it a order that it either lays all mines in a straight line or only a percentage of this line like 25/75% ... take this approach to supcom so we can give it a type of area command like "lay 25% mines into this area" ... then the mine layer will lay down like 25 mines in a 100x100m big area ... in a random pattern of some sorts.
i always hated it to give my engineers orders to place mines, because each single mine needs to be placed seperatly.
so i would like to see either my proposed area command for minelayers (if you decide to add a minelayer unit) or you make minefields like 20mines in a factory sized buildarea ...
Built by engineers or deployed from another unit?
Built by engineers or ACU atm
nice and is there a chance to find them or will it be a bad surprice if you go the wrong way ??
Is it walk over activated or is there an aoe to it?

im asking about this because im actually curious.

thats the answer i was lookin for so im good.
cool your jets we don't need a philosophical debate on mine sweepers or do we?
will the cybran have an emp?
and what will the other teams affects be

*face palm*

if you built a field of them then yer HAHA.
hey would it be possible to have them build mines in fields instead of one by one?
If i had access to the UI i would add templates back in back i dont :(.
Can you make then like Walls? Build then in line.
nice!
hey leosake check this out! its got a huge resemblance to the cobra. its a core unit from ta escalation. it flies.
Tauniverse.com
hey ! it has similar panels !!!
goood :D
I havent played TA in my life, but I understand why many people have it as a favorite ;)
Will there be a T3 Mine, and an anti-experimental mine?
How about a research upgrade that adds the stun effect of the Disruptor artillery to it?
Yes there will be research upgrades for mines soon.

just my thoughts on this matter
(numbers are not final in this post)
i like this idea. maybe mines can be mobile, and built by factories, then have them deploy.
or possibly air dropped?
also, are you guys considering to give engineers flight upgrades? that would make them so much more helpful. i miss the flying engineers from ta.
