a black hole generator as a method of protection...

i mean hell if we can control when, where, what shape and size a black hole is created, why dont we just shoot them as projectiles? it would be way less funny to call it a portal generator. a black hole sucks EVERYTHING in and crushes it in the middle till it doesnt exist. and it gets bigger as things go into it. and it gains power. i can imagine it would take an insane amount of power and would probably be easy to spam it since it would make dark spots wherever bullets hit. it would block out the players view of his base. although a black hole would be something the aeon would think up, why, if they have the power to generate hundreds of black holes, would they utilize such power and technology as a method of protection. what about when a unit walks through it? wouldnt it look awful stupid not tearing the unit to peices as it did so? i woudl think woo hoo yeah awesome if it were to protect a galaxy but for a base? no. what about the pullinsmash and teleport? a black hole generator would be the perfect superweapon for the aeon. i mean using a railgun for artillery would be more plausible. if you call it a portal shield, fine, great, like it, love it in fact. but a black hole generator?

Perhaps using the real damaging singularity effect you desire takes a hell lot more energy to produce and stabilize?
Distortions in space don't normally tear that easy and last that long....

Black holes technology for Aeon? wow then Aeon will be able tu use this technology for other goals, for example an explosion releasing a black hole that sucks everything within an area, and then releases it all destroyed. And maybe for teleportation if you connect 2 black holes. Maybe artillery or nukes with black holes? Who knows.

Love this type of original features, keep them coming.

that would be a wormhole for the teleport. and the aeon already has a teleport. the pullinsmash is the closest thing to a black hole generator. except it doesnt send them to a different dimension. it acts as a magnet made of lava.

using a black hole generator to eat bullets is like using a katana for a shield and using a butter knife as an attack weapon. it would be more plausible and and would look way less stupid using the katana to slice the steak on a plate.

hey. a monster with a black hole in its mouth. perfect way to use a black hole.

That's....the problem i feel that could go wrong with this concept.
It's not a real shield generator.
It's a one trick pony that may not end up useful even at what it's doing in the end,like most gimped Aeon stuff we get in SC 2.

Ive seen other "defense structures,i don't really think they can replace a staple needed defense structure,especially at T3.

T2 is just way too weak late game.True,if the enemy does get something like a T5,you should be panicking....

On the other hand,if you mean this is a "different" kind of shield like this one unit from C&C RA 3,the Assault destroyer's black hole armor....It could prove interesting.

(Better give it high hp and armor to tank the projectiles,since it's not probably redirecting them.Do beams count as redirected projectiles?)

how will the black hole part differ from using a nomral shield HEY it would be plausible if the black hole ability allowed it to use the resource energy.

normal shield using some energy to run and having its own hp which takes damage, the black hole ability would allow it to be completely dependent on the energy, not the shields hp. for example, the black hole gen wouldnt lose shield hp because black holes dont take damage from fire. instead, each projectile absorbed would take twice the amount of energy required to fire it. a tank shoots a bullet at the shield, and instead of the shield taking damage, the reduction would be from the energy resource bar at the top. and only once the energy resource bar is depleted will the shield go down. ultimate shield if you have the energy capabilities. but i still dont like it being called a black hole gen. portal shield yeah fine but black holes would be pointless to use as shields unless to save the planet, like an anti nuke shield.

i thought about this too and it would be suitable for the aeon to have a super shield. but it would be more aeon to reflect the bullets back at whatever it is that is shooting it. hah. so many ways a shield can be unique.

taking energy from the resource storage instead of having shield hp(blacj hole gen)

redirecting bullets back at the enemy(bomb bouncer)

blocking units

doing damage to units passing through

absorbing bullets and converting them into usable resources

being mobile

hey, never thought of a flying bubble shield generator. one fast enough to protect planes. oval shaped. hah. that would pretty sweet.

i just thought of another good idea. giving the rezbot the ability to reclaim faster than anything else. that would make it a formidable weapon.

since the aeon have a black hole generator "the mobile unit magnet" (sorry doesnt know the name) it would be cool if it works like the Black Ops Adv. command units aeon addon maelstorm or the T3 "Lambda Field generator" from the seraphim (Blackops Unleashed)

Why not let the idea be like this?

The Black hole/Shield idea 2 in 1 can still work.

This Black hole,would be like how anti missile flares work.To get the most usage out of it,one must shoot the black hole at the right moment,like say an bunch of T3 strategic bombers bomb rushing your defenses,which would absorb the projectiles in the area,but leave the structure itself on cooldown for a period of time.

What about keeping the 2-in-1 shield/black hole idea, but allowing the black hole to absorb incoming projectiles, achieve a player-determined critical mass, and then have the player manually teleport the charged black hole a short distance and have it go off like a very mini Big Bang obliterating anything in a moderate radius, and then the black hole has to recharge a bit before it can start sucking up more projectiles. This way forces enemies to take a different approach to tackle this new defense system as rushing it may result in many casualties, but pounding it with heavier weapons would make it more potent and dangerous. What if the discharged black hole behaved differently depending on how it was charged? In other words, if the black hole absorbs many small or light projectiles it would rapidly discharge short-range, directed-energy bursts similar to the Quantum Energy Being left over after the death of an Ythotha, but if the black hole absorbs many large or heavy projectiles like artillery fire it's discharge range, AOE, and damage are all increased and when fired it acts like a teleportable mini hyper-nuke (Mini Big Bang idea). This would prevent enemies from shelling the player because they are afraid of what might happen to them, but at the same time enemies could attempt to provoke the player into unleashing this weapon against their own enemies. The downfall is that the greater the critical mass, the greater the amount of energy that is required in order to keep the black hole stable... otherwise the Aeon's greatest defense may become their ultimate undoing.

black holes are controllable unless this is a stationary pull and smash i don't like it to equal it out i demand the uef get the black sun back it was 2 cool
or like the guys above me said if the building gets destroyed then it goes nuclear

This is a Aeon T3 black hole generator, it doesn't make one big hole though but acts like a shield gen spawning little black holes that consume projectiles when they get close.

the Aeon will have this instead of a shield gen
