The June 2018 Showcase tournament is a celebratory event, marking the establishment of the RA: Unplugged mod project. The competition is technically an open event however with some exceptions do favor players ranked within OpenRA's Global League and players in good standing within the community.

The Showcase tournament sets the stage for an expanded tournament in August 2018 granting the top players a seed into the event.

8-Player Bracket

Players are placed in single elimination brackets and matched against an opponent in a Best-of-5 all up until the Finals which are played out in a Best-of-7. The lowest bracket is the Quarter Finals with 4 match-ups followed by 2 Semi-Finals and concluded with a Bronze Finals and a Finals.

Prize Pool

The event has a guaranteed prize pool of $200, split between the top 3 players, 65/25/10 %. For example the winner of the Bronze Finals will receive 10% = $20 for his 3rd place finish in the event.

The guaranteed prize pool currently consists of a $100 donation made by the event host (SoScared) and a $100 guarantee from the project Bounty Pool covering for any lack of further event donations building up to the total of $200. The prize pool is hosted through Pay Pal and can be supported with a donation through paypal.me/SoScared. This account has previously hosted prize pools with over $1800 in relation to competition events related to OpenRA.

Media exposure, streams and post-production

Primarily the event is exposed on YouTube through FiveAces' Shoutcast Channel, ensuring high quality casting together with a professional level production value with the match videos. With the tournament format allowing for players to set up their match-ups at their leisure there is initially no pinned time and date, however the tournament host will encourage the matches played towards specific times and announced ahead of time to allow onlookers to follow the event live.

Planned match-ups are announced in the event's results post and with social media sites affiliated with RA: Unplugged (Facebook, Discord, Reddit). Players and observers are allowed to stream the event at their own leisure, provided they have activated a stream delay of minimum 3 minutes.

Time table

To ensure the event runs smoothly it allows for players to schedule their games freely, however the host will encourage the games to be played towards three weekends within the time-span of the event:
