Too heavy to travel over water?

if it hovers over ground I think it can hover over water...

unless it doesn't hover and it has invisable tracks or ones I can not see...

anyway, looks really good

Dude, hover technology presumably needs to "push" off something. If it's pushing, it's exerting equal force in the opposite direction. While it should be trivial to shape a force field to displace water, if the pushing force overcomes surface tension your hovertank will sink! Simple physics.

wouldn't it just use the same force as gravity?cuz if that was the case i dont think it would break surface tension.and what would be the point af making a 2 ton tank hover if it cant go over water?

@open_sketchbook

hey, 'dude',

not Necessarily...

surly if the 'hover' tank uses electro'magnets it could theoretically push of the earths electromagnetic field and therefore could go anywhere it likes, on earth that is.

and sure, it needs to push of something, but surly air will surfice?
take an air rescue helicopter, they techinically 'hover' and they go over water all the time and I've never seen a heli brake surface tension and sink...

and yes, what is the point of making a hover unit that can't hover over all terrain, it's like making a heli and saying 'sorry, it cant' fly' all you do is make it easier to shoot...

apart from making it look amazing of coarse...

and huhnu, wat the hell are you going on about, 'uses the same force as gravity', we wan't to defie gravity, not make more!!!
overwise you would have a suicide tank...

... so about the helicopetr stuff: if the hover tank pushes air than why isn`t it a flying tank... it is too heavy to lift more than 2 feet off the ground if it has any "ground" under it, but it`s useless to make a hovertank if it can`t go over water, why not use tracks?

actually in aviation the term "ground effect" is used for what you guys are saying

meaning, When an aircraft descends to land the surface on the runway provides lift as the aircrafts engines thrust on the hard surface pushing the aircraft upwards

i'm talking about it using the same amount of force to 'push' it self up against gravity as gravity uses to 'pull' something towards the center of the earth, thus making it able to go over any terrain

Helicopters don't use the same techonology to float as hovercrafts. Helicopters use the principle of lift to hover- the force of the air pressure above the helicopter is less than the forces of the air pressure under the aircraft, pushing the helicopter up and making it hover. It has nothing to do with what surface it's over.

Hovercrafts, however, use different technology to hover. open_sketchbook is right. Hovercrafts can't break the surface tension of whatever surface they're on, or they won't hover. Weight is a factor that could make a hovercraft not hover. They need the surface to push them back. If air was enough to make a hovercraft hover, as you say, then hovercrafts could fly like a helicopter, which they can't.

The chronosphere circuits installed are too delicate to maneuver. Even a drop can short circuit the tank and blow it up in the process.

Description

The Forth Jumper Tank is meant to be a real base-ender, therefore making it too slow to build and way too many credits to spend on. But if you can amass enough money and strength to hold out, then this is your favorite vehicle. It's secondary ability is to teleport itself, a thing many players will be willing to quicken in teching for. But, like every heavy ground tank, it must be protected against air strikes, requiring services from a dedicated AA unit. Water is also some problem for this bad boy, as it's too heavy to travel over it.
