New Horizons is a mod made in tribute to the classic real time strategy game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge, originally made by Westwood Studios. New Horizons vastly expands the original game with an emphasis on realism, while at the same time preserving the elements that made Red Alert 2 unique. Youtube: 'RA2YR: New Horizons Mod'

In New Horizons, each faction possesses it’s own unique set of equipment that allows for maintenance of various forms. This includes ways of repairing vehicles, buildings, and healing injured personnel. As a quickstart tip, try building up a repair/logistics team for your base, and set them to patrol. Setting such a team on a patrol around the various points of your base helps create a semi-automatic repair/maintenance assistant for you, which will approach damaged structures or units and heal them. This can be very handy if your base suffers frequent harassing attacks, and you don’t want to have to worry about repairing your base manually every single time it’s attacked by anything. For this purpose, you could use the following for each faction:

Allies – Repair IFV’s (loaded with engineers)

Soviets – Repair Drones

Yuri – Repair Trucks

Besides each faction owning repair docking facilities (be it shipyards for sea vessels, or service depots for land vehicles), each faction has other unique tech to help keep things in top condition.

The Allied faction have mobile units that can heal infantry, such as field medics, and medical humvee’s; their advantage being the ability to treat injured infantry on the move, albeit slowly. The Allies also posses repair ships, thus they are the only faction with a mobile repair ability for naval forces.

The Soviet faction has a semi-mobile option to treat injured infantry, in the form of field hospital tents that can be deployed by truck. Infantry (or groups of infantry) can enter these tents to be fully healed. The soviets also have the (much more expensive) option to build an Elite Training Facility; this building grants the team’s infantry with general basic medical knowledge, allowing infantry to slowly heal themselves.

The Yuri faction has the relatively inexpensive ability to construct a War Hospital. Though a static solution, it serves similar in function to the Soviet Elite Training Facility in that it also allows for the team’s infantry to slowly heal themselves, but additionally badly injured infantry can enter it to be healed fast.

Want to repair a damaged helicopter you like? Well provided it’s not one that hasn’t landed by default, all helicopters can actually be ordered to land by ‘deploying’ them. Once grounded, the mobile repair units can get to work on them. Just remember to un-deploy them back into the air! (Hint: click deploy, then order them to move). Note: Planes will slowly auto-repair once landed safe at their airfields. Remember: an ally team’s repair units may heal your units, and you may likewise help them also (you may also use some of their facilities, such as hospitals and training centres).
