The question is simple, do you want the Explosion Damage to be defaultly turned On or Off in the normal REARM Deathmatch? I'm not talking about removing the feature or about something that would affect you every time you set up a new match. Just the very first time before the game remembers you settings, the first game for every newcomer, should it be turned on or off? |

probably turned off, to allow players to play it with reduced lag, then they can turn it on at there pleasure, just my thought on this |

They do cause small lags, turning it off slightly helps as people say, but it turned out that the main reason for lags is the naming system. So even if the game may not be as smooth, this thing is not the reason for all the people reporting lags lately. |

oh thats grand, i was not sure as some games that i have played, i had to turn off explosions, and other effects to play them without lag. great mod, its really enjoyable, |

I think explosion damage should be on. It forces players to be more tactical in ship placement and encourages flanking and penning the enemy in for explosion damage. Edited by: Nordlund63 |

So its the naming system thats causing all the lag...Thats a shame. Perhaps you could make it toggle-able? As for explosions, off by default. |
||

Yes, naming cause the lag. What exactly about naming will be further explored. |

on....explosions ftw!! btw pouk are the trails of the strike crafts are less detailed now? the HC strike crafts only lag is crazy. EDIT:about the naming maybe a black outline to the white letters can be added to make them look more visible? Edited by: zamaziko --

Saying "FTW" on the matter of the Explosion Damage doesn't carry as much information as you maybe imagine... |

well i didn't see that i needed to explain why would i want explosion damage but anyway it's great for me because it adds realism and another tactic to be used against enemy fleets. --

The thing is that I didn't even understand that you do want the explosion damage. |

i should have made myself clear. and FTW means "for the win" it's added to stuff you like to express fanatical love/interest in the subject --

Right, that's where the confusion comming from, I didn't think about it, I automatically presumed you said WTF. You know how your brain doesn't care about the order of each letter as long as it decodes as what you think it is. Well my brain saw you saying What The Fuck. |

first time i saw it i thought of the exact same thing lol.but then when i saw it's ftw i thought it would be fuck the what xD --

It looks like people prefer it to be turned on. |

I'm going to vote against the crowd, and say have it off by default. A year from now, when somebody first discovers this mod for themselves, they probably won't know about the explosion damage until they see it in the readme or the game setup options. But, it's also likely they won't see the option at all, and then periodically we'll see comments about "why are my strikecraft dieing" or "why are my own ships taking damage when nothing is shooting at them". So, my vote is to have explosion damage off by default. The poll above is misleading. It suggests it is a poll of whether or not to remove explosion damage, but what Pouk is trying to decide is whether or not the explosion damage should be on or off by default for each release of the mod. In other words, I think people are voting on whether or not they like the explosion damage, when we should be voting on whether the explosion damage should be on or off by default. |

But I directly said it's not about removing the feature and the poll is called "defaultly on or off". Look, this is one of those things I really don't know. Sometimes (actually often) it happens that I have very strong arguments for both absolutelly oposite sides of a problem, just like now. So I'm just waiting how it's going to turn out. I have absolutelly no problem doing it either way. But hey, you know you're the most trusted person in the field of ballancing and game logic. So who knows how it's going to be. |

Wow, another thread I've noticed waaaay too late, but I'll put my opinion anyway; I think Explosion Damage should be 'Off' by default, I agree with H_D's arguments, that way would lead to less confusion. This comment is probably way too late anyway, I'm sure you've decided which way to go by now. |

In fact I was decided to keep it on and then after my multiplayer sunday I changed my mind. |

Ok... this may be too late but: (by the way: I always thought that FTW stood for F@ck The World!) |
||
|

FTW, a multi-acronym for either "For The Win" or "F*ck The World." The context of the message should indicate which phrase the acronym is for. |
||

Ok, one acronym, many meanings, loads of cousins. |
