InnoClarke reported a CTD due to a missing entry in postprocess.ltx that I had missed all these years, and Rico_Heart pointed out that my latest upload never updated the version number.
In light of these, I've updated my original uploads (1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) to remove the issues.
Version 1.0 and 1.1 can be found here:

Version 1.2 can be found here:

Game is unplayable for me. When I'm crouch in the sewers, enemies from mile away will always hear me or see me and start shooting and throwing grenades. Even is the sound bar is empty, there is three walls minimum and I'm underground, they will still detect you. Something is beyond broken. I don't use any other mods.
Is there a way to enable ingame subtitles? I 100% remember playing this game like 10 years ago with vanilla subtitles turned on. But the option from the settings is gone, including every single release I've tried so far (Steam, Gog and a few pirated version too). The subtitles option is just not there. And it's impossible to find anything about this online. Wtf?
Also Tremor's replacement didn't arrive at all, even tho I've completed the missing stalkers quest quite a while ago.
Edit: the medic at Skadovsk did eventually show up randomly after I took a nap. I don't know what triggered it tho, I've completed the missing stalkers quest multiple days ago

CoP - English subtitles - 1.0.7z
Thanks! I'll be sure to tryt it out
Hey there, you are remembering a mod, not pure-vanilla. I remember that mod, too, it was on that one STALKER Filefront site that I don't think is around anymore...but it added full subtitles to the game, every dialog showed up in the corner of the screen (like a PDA msg). I used to use that + the Russian voice mod.
It could have been a mod, I honestly don't remember at this point. I think I thought it was vanilla because the subtitles' integration was flawless: the images, fonts, text sizes and the ingame options for them looked exactly like if it was implemented into the game by default
I found 1 subtitle mod since but that changes the both the font itself and the text sizing in the game which made everything too small and/or hard to read. I didn't like it at all. I guess there won't be proper subtitles for this game anymore
Yup, it was a mod and I wanna say its lost media now. I totally remember what you are describing.
Every time I try to open the game with PRP, my game crashes. :/
Edit: Finally figured out what caused it. Disabling the drunken weaving effect the Controllers have causes an issue. The idea was the disable the effect the same way it was disabled in Shadow of Chernobyl, by changing (in postprocess.ltx, in gamedata/configs/misc) [effector_controller_aura2]:effector_alcohol to instead say effector_none. Except, by default, postprocess.ltx doesn't include an effector with that name, causing the game to crash. To fix this, I simply went further up a bit to where there's [effector_alcohol], went two lines above it and pasted a bit from ZRP's version of this file:
[effector_none]
pp_eff_cyclic = 0
This way, you can disable the drunken weaving effect *without* breaking your game.
Huh, I was never aware of this as never disable the effect. The thing worked on my with default settings, and the person that helped me playtest never tested disabling controller effects.
This is years way too late, but I shall fix my original uploads with the missing code.
Glad to have been of some assistance. Thanks for the update, too.
will this actually work ?
every time i try getting COP to run with PRP, it always crashes, even before i get to the menu, and i have no choice but to pull my plug off my laptop, including my battery and wait for it to boot up
edit : ok, so it keeps saying there's something with the Xcore.dll file
