Amongst few available legacies of General Townes there lies the Death-Ray Laser Air Defense System. It not only provides American forces with more powerful anti-air support than Avenger does, but also capable of locking on and destroying incoming missile salvo in the blink of eye. Although Death-Ray managed to enter American service due to support of World Legacy Inc., General Townes'other laser weapon projects are still high and dry: in addition to fierce peer competition, Townes also has to confront the reality that US military has no available logistic system to support his fantasy, and that congressmen now prefer investing conventional armament rather than laser weapon projects with bottomless expenses, leading to swift and inevitable demise of these projects. Townes' laser weapon themselves are also subjected to various criticisms, most notably regarding their enormous energy consumption, inability to mass production, or simply gaudiness. Underappreciated, General Townes died of a car accident while driving home from a gathering. Townes' family insisted that it is a murdering trap aims to seize his technological achievements, because scholar-styled Townes never touched a slightest drop of alcohol. While this claim is popular within conspiracists, official and witness' version of the story is that it is General's attempt to drown his sorrow that lead to the tragedy.
