We - archaeologist, sent to investigate. We should find unusual artifacts, which according to legend endow it with the owner of great energy. But to find it we have to go through the horror. Explanatory note: this mod is in no way connected with the main story Penumbra, except that few hints .
This story, well, it could use some work.
1) The Lighting. That could be worked on, and you gave the player SO much oil. Which isn't a bad thing, but I felt that I could use my lantern throughout the whole story without ever losing any sanity.
2) The Scares. You used a bunch of scares in this one. And by that I mean, you constantly spawned grunts right behind you for an instant "chase" scene, in which most grunts were fake. Not to mention the random flying naked guy midway through. I would definitely add some more monsters besides grunts, as those can easily be avoided with a simple sprint and jump tactic. I'm personally afraid of the brutes. The suitors, grunts, and Kaernk are no problem for me.
3) The Puzzles. The only "puzzle" in this story is the god awful water monster part. Where you had to "massage" the door. I didn't know you needed to find a lever. The key glitched out and I was unable to get it to unlock the door with the lever. SO, I had to force a water monster to hit me to break down the door so I can get the lever. Not to mention, when you die, you spawn IN THE WATER WITH THE WATER MONSTER CHASING YOU. You end up dying before you even spawn. REALLY terrible.
4) The Story. It didn't have much detail and didn't have an ending as it just leaves you there in the open. Not even ending credits.
5) The Mapping. It can definitely use some work. There was a LOT of empty space that could have easily been filled up. Add some random sounds and some particles to help boost atmosphere.
6) The Notes. You never really explained the story and most of the notes had terrible grammar. My grammar isn't that great. But I would've loved to proof read these notes. Also, most notes had about 2-3 sentences at MOST. It was very confusing too me and I'd imagine every player that tried this too.
I'll play part 2 when its released. Please work on some of the stuff I stated above to help improve so it doesn't receive such low ratings.
