Ordeal Mod Version 2 will suit players of any skill from beginner to hardcore providing an astonishingly new and gripping Painkiller experience.
I must start by saying that Painkiller, along with its add-on: Battle Out of Hell, has been a really great game ever since it was released back in 2004 and undoubtedly will always be.
The Ordeal Mod, has managed to live up to my personal expectations, as a huge fan and veteran Painkiller player, and by extension, to the game itself. It succeeds to do so through originality, keeping alive the game's core elements and improving them even further where needed.
Moreover, this Mod does a magnificent job of fixing an insane amount of bugs that were left in the game, perfecting the unique, fast-paced, hardcore experience that the game previously provided.
Furthermore the game adds an impressive amount of new features, that are definitely serving their main purposes.
One of those purposes is helping newcomers embrace and understand the beautiful world of Painkiller, through features like controllable demon-morph (a cool feature that allows the player to hold the 66 souls in until he decides to use them and morph into demon), a new very useful card - The Soul Hunter - I'll leave it to you to discover its usefulness and new, but challenging, card unlocking conditions.
The new money system is also extremely promising, turning Gold into Credits (100 Gold = 1 Credit). It eases the way cards are sold and bought, and it also fixes the money counter exploit. (I know you've been using it!)
Last but not least, it also fulfills its purpose to fuel the more experienced, (I'd go as far as) expert players with their daily dose of pure hardcore, through the final and hardest difficulty of them all: the Ordeal difficulty! More, faster, damaging and overall more deadly monsters, some of them freshly re-textured await you in this final difficulty.
It also adds nine new levels, based on multiplayer, that are worth it and fun to play.
To conclude, I recommend you to read the full Detailed Changelog before playing, and then test out all the new content that is definitely worth it.

This mod is a true masterpiece.
Amazed by how attentive and precise the developer was discovering so many bugs and missteps in a seeeemingly perfect game(the original had its ups and downs, here and there, buuut we usually ignored the downs as they weren't game-breaking enough). I imagine the testing must've been intensive and exhaustive.
I did play on all difficulties and as well as the new levels before making an opinion and I must say I was quite obsessive.
I highly praise the new conditions as they offer an gripping new stage of complexity and entertainment. They're quite genius too and never became repetitive even if they come in pairs.
The new levels gameplay is masterfully kept close to the original style and the ability to give a progression sense to those bleak circular levels is remarkable and innovative.
I'm surprised as to how it doesn't get more attention and reviews, but then again, it makes me sad when I think about the little attention the Original Game usually gets as in number of mods/discussions about it/fanbase, so on.

Good mod man! I liked it overall, but wish I had seen more visual differences, environments, textures, monsters (textures and attacks).
Don't get me wrong I liked what you DID but it felt like you could play more with visuals, not too much though(cause I've seen some CRAP in other places), but slow and stylish. By that I mean CHANGE the atmosphere a bit, not just make it darker or lighter or sharper or smoother. But change completely(some levels more than others need that, cause we're all way too used to the originals).
I really recommend people to play it. It is, as I said, great, overall, and by that I mean:
- the fixes, patience(to fix everything) is a virtue!
- gameplay changes, yep!
- with two conditions, wise idea!
- demon morph controller, neat!
- credits system, interesting!
