Ordeal Mod Version 2 fixes a lot of bugs that still plague the original game fully patched even with the Ordeal Mod Version 1 installed. The Mod also introduces all new features like controllable Demon Morphs, new lights and dynamic lights for Souls and CheckPoints, a lot of new original secrets, a multitude of new and balanced card unlocking conditions (usually two per level), new levels (based on MP architecture) with very good Painkiller gameplay, new HUDs to choose from and a generally improved level atmosphere. A new money system has been introduced.
The "Ordeal" difficulty is finally finished since the "Ordeal" difficulty in Version 1 of the Mod was merely a blueprint. The difficulty has been improved in every possible way and will bring new enemies, altered level parts and limited quicksaves plus all the other changes that the "Ordeal" difficulty had already made in Version 1 of the Mod.
Some of the changes made in Version 1 of the Mod regarding the Ordeal difficulty are: reduced Demon Morph time, no controllable Demon Morphs, Golden Cards last less, monsters are smarter, tougher, stronger and faster and only a few levels have quicksaves. This difficulty is dedicated to all faithful and hardcore Painkiller players.
You'll have to prove your worth to get to the "Ordeal" difficulty but the effort is well worth it. You'll be ready for it when you do!

The changes above are only a small (very small) part and those of you who are curious will check the Short Changelog and those who are really into seeing behind the scenes and details for every single change and fix, will check the Detailed Changelog.

The Mod fully supports Painkiller: Black Edition and the original Painkiller release with the addon Battle out of Hell patched to version 1.64 and will be available in English, Romanian, German, Polish, Spanish and Russian.

Ordeal Mod Version 2 requires that the Painkiller 1.64 copy you own be patched with Powermad 3.62 beforehand. The Mod archive comes with Powermad as well. DO NOT have any other Mods installed.

Check out the trailer below for some action and get a taste of some of the features that may or may not bring Painkiller BooH or Black Edition close to perfection.

Excuse me but why are the chaingun and the shuriken gun centered on the screen ?

Centered weapons were the norm until Quake 2 rolled in and every FPS followed suit. You could still use centered weapons in Q2 but the models didn't appear, unlike Unreal.

Actually, Hexen didn't rely only on centered weapons, silly me. And neither did Blood, maybe others as well.

Hello,

This was my preference. In addition, launched projectiles now seem more in tune with the weapons, due to the position.

The thing that's always bugging me about Painkiller is the projectile misalignment on both the Stakegun and Electrodriver weapons. Projectiles come from the center of the screen instead of from the weapon muzzle, which is just so wrong, and it's baffling because this is a 2004 game; older games like Quake II and Unreal didn't have this issue at all. Can you maybe fix this annoyance?

I believe the mod already adjusts the weapons position to be more centered as to match the projectile. I don't know if this is what you're looking for exactly, but it's a start.

Hi!

I didn't even notice this, until a few years back, when it started to look weird.

No worries, it is already added to the future plans, should there ever be another version, but it will certainly be a while.

this was fun, new conditions are merciless though but im no veteran.
I could never do loonypark and leningrads condition.

Is ordeal mode significantly more harder? do i stand a chance?
i played the original until trauma and finished the mod with conditions on nightmare - the 2 levels i mentioned.

Hi there!

Yes, the conditions in those levels are hard, but if you got the others, then you play quite well.
As a tip for Loony Park, use Weapon modifier, Double time bonus and Haste (X1) and activate them during the ride with Mercy (3 activations) and Replenish as your silvers. Quick save often and make sure to get the golden armor before starting the ride.
For Leningrad, returning with Health Stealer will help a lot and leave one of the Megahealths for the end.

You definitely stand a chance in Ordeal difficulty. There are new encounters and monsters are tougher and stronger, but you can get green souls, you get more ammo and you can use all of the cards that you have acquired during your playthroughs.

For Ordeal BooH, you will need to do either of those two levels in order to unlock the difficulty, but you can play Painkiller (non BooH) Ordeal right away.

Thanks for the card tips my man. i will try like you said. wish me luck!
I wanted to start ordeal on the base game but i realized i need a trauma playthru too with the mod. and now that you said it it makes sense.
fsr i thought i could play directly. i am going for the trauma mode first. who knows, it mght help improve my skill.
i like games that dont let you go on the highest difficulty directly so you rage quit or sumn.

Ah, I got it now fully.:)

Ok, so if you played the Ordeal Mod V2 in Painkiller or the base game, in Nightmare, and got all cards, you will need to play in Trauma now, to earn another card before playing in Ordeal difficulty.

As for BooH, obviously import your cards from the base game and try to get the Loony Park one in Nightmare. Then, you can start in Trauma and reach Leningrad and also unlock a certain bonus from a level, which will allow you to start BooH Ordeal!

Yes, progression is key since your skill increases, no doubt about it, and so does your collection of cards! I'm glad you like this model of requirements for higher difficulties!

Cheers!
