Ordeal Mod Version 2 fixes a lot of bugs that still plague the original game fully patched even with the Ordeal Mod Version 1 installed. The Mod also introduces all new features like controllable Demon Morphs, new lights and dynamic lights for Souls and CheckPoints, a lot of new original secrets, a multitude of new and balanced card unlocking conditions (usually two per level), new levels (based on MP architecture) with very good Painkiller gameplay, new HUDs to choose from and a generally improved level atmosphere. A new money system has been introduced.
The "Ordeal" difficulty is finally finished since the "Ordeal" difficulty in Version 1 of the Mod was merely a blueprint. The difficulty has been improved in every possible way and will bring new enemies, altered level parts and limited quicksaves plus all the other changes that the "Ordeal" difficulty had already made in Version 1 of the Mod.
Some of the changes made in Version 1 of the Mod regarding the Ordeal difficulty are: reduced Demon Morph time, no controllable Demon Morphs, Golden Cards last less, monsters are smarter, tougher, stronger and faster and only a few levels have quicksaves. This difficulty is dedicated to all faithful and hardcore Painkiller players.
You'll have to prove your worth to get to the "Ordeal" difficulty but the effort is well worth it. You'll be ready for it when you do!
The changes above are only a small (very small) part and those of you who are curious will check the Short Changelog and those who are really into seeing behind the scenes and details for every single change and fix, will check the Detailed Changelog.
The Mod fully supports Painkiller: Black Edition and the original Painkiller release with the addon Battle out of Hell patched to version 1.64 and will be available in English, Romanian, German, Polish, Spanish and Russian.
Ordeal Mod Version 2 requires that the Painkiller 1.64 copy you own be patched with Powermad 3.62 beforehand. The Mod archive comes with Powermad as well. DO NOT have any other Mods installed.
Check out the trailer below for some action and get a taste of some of the features that may or may not bring Painkiller BooH or Black Edition close to perfection.

Thank you.
I can guide you to my secrets guide here: Youtube.com
how do i install this mod?
You need a fresh separate copy of Painkiller Black Edition on Steam or Painkiller: Battle out of Hell, patched to 1.64.
Install Powermad 3.62 and then install Ordeal Mod V2.
would it be possible to add overdose or recurring evil levels to this mod? could you guide me through it?
how psychotic it would be to play those levels on ordeal difficulty.
i dislike redemption and resurrected but overdose and recurring evil would be a blast man!!!
No, not as it is. It needs a bunch of work, rebalancing and so many other things. Ordeal does not simply work with other content, it is not just a difficulty mod. Perhaps I will update the mod in the future with more content.
An overdose port at least would be fantastic news! Overdose is kinda half baked but has a great potential to it, much closer to the original game quality-wise than to the poorly made follow-ups.
My personal dream is getting to play both BooH and Overdose with the ability to choose between Belial and Daniel before each mission. Belial has a nice alternate set of weapons that plays both differently and true to the core formula. Ammo in the levels can be 1:1 substituted depending on the currently selected character.
Probably stupid questions but...
1. Is there a way to reduce the immense ‘X demon morphs available’ blurb to just a capital M with the number of morphs printed next to it?
2. Does the mod take care of the critical bugs fixed by 1.65 and 1.66 since it requires strictly 1.64?
Hey!
No such thing as stupid questions, no worries.
1. Sadly, no such way, that change would make it too ambiguous anyway, for the general public.
2. I don't know which bugs were fixed in the unofficial versions, but they were probably released after I released the mod. I can only assume I left no critical bugs when I released.
You can find all of the fixed bugs and features in the Ordeal mod documentation folder, after installing the mod, or you can read the Short Changelog before installing the mod (should be in the downloaded archive, if memory serves well).
1. Which script do I have to edit to minimize the morph blurb and its text?
2. The unofficial patches take care of some pretty foundational Lua bugs, e.g. 1.66 does the following:
1. Due to the way it was implemented, there is no quick and easy way to change this and make it look ok, too.
2. Those two bugs and way more are fixed. You can find all the bugfixes and features in the ORDEAL MOD VERSION 2 - DOCUMENTATION folder (appears where you installed the mod), more specifically, in the Detailed changelog.
