I had a look at this. A few tries were needed to get the download.
I have no idea why, but it kept stalling around 120Mb.

This actually is a painkeep setup. Perhaps for the Weenieville server.
The bulk of the 1.2Gb size is override textures. Looks like the stuff used for the HD pack.
Didnt notice that any native PK textures had overrides.

Also of note: v2.2 is not included. Would be great to try it out with some of the different maps!
So, unzip this,
(Note: if you Linux you will need to rename or move "Painkeep" to "painkeep")
unzip Moddb.com
and unzip Moddb.com

Then get darkplaces and have some fun!
If the servers are empty - pk2.2 has bots...

I couldn't get DarkPlaces to work with PainKeep. If you have it working, then please share. I re posted the download link up above and also included the instructions.

The idea behind creating this was to provide a simple way to redistribute the game. I'm not trying to take any credit for the original creator's content or call this game my own in any way shape or form. I'm just trying to keep PainKeep and the Weenieville PainKeep server (the only PK server) alive.

I just unzipped that and:

dp -listen -game Painkeep

dp is my link to darkplaces-glx, on linux. On win it would just be darkplaces.
I have an engine port in here called "maphack": Moddb.com
If the latest dp wont work, that might. Thats based on the 2011 code - the 2014 release gives me a lot of entity placement grief on my massive test map.

Then I tested with the pk2.2 update to make sure that ran. I'll do some more testing when I have the pk3.0 code ready.
I have some new code that lets you use any weapons on any map or mod.

Standard pk source will fail with singleplayer on many maps - you have to set deathmatch or use -listen.
Old qc sources cant start without an info_player_start.

I just wanted to make sure there was nothing unwanted - you could hide anything in 1.2Gb.
Changed the post title, I figured "DOWNLOAD NO" might have been confusing. Maybe you wanted download now?

Once I get around to the pk part of this project, I'll have to stop by the server.

The original reason I make the 1.2 update was visible weapons, better menu admin, and the basis for adding better bots.
On the way I discovered pk "artefacts", the convenience pack, and hubs 2 and 3. Once pk2.0 was done I moved on to Archon.
But I couldnt help tweaking this and that. I made all the throwable weapon stats admin controlled.
A new version of the gravity well - the "super" gravity well. And some other tweaks.
I decided to release pk3.0 as a pk only release...and discovered there was no easy way to extract it from Archon.

And thus began the qc++ project with fteqcc, #ifdef precompiler sections, and lots of darkplaces extensions to make easier mods and more portable code: Moddb.com Moddb.com
