The game takes place in the eve of the Seven Hour War. Fighting against blood shedding synths and frightening aliens, Adrian Shephard has to struggle his way with his fellow comrades from the Phoenix Command, with the main objective of stopping the construction of a Combine Citadel. It's been awhile since our last update, which promised a truckload of new features and stuff. No worries, we're still working hard on fufilling our promises, and you should see something in the next few weeks. Until then, check out this exclusive news and media feature on Opposing Force 2, as well as our second interview with Matthew "Menter" Graef, the project lead on this highly anticipated mod.

Menter wrote: We're delaying the MP release again, to November 21 (our birthday). Our old animators left because they couldn't take the new development rules, after that we had problems finding new animators, it took us about two weeks to find a good and trustful animator, and one other week to contact him because of a few problems he had recently. Now that we got back on tracks we're finally making solid progress again.

Still, we want to give something really decent to you guys, so we prefer not to show an unfinished beta (which is what we have right now). Therefore, we'll release a nearly-full (apart from a few maps, bug fixes or gamemodes that should be included in future releases) version on November 21, we're probably including the coop on it too.

Remember, we can't promise any dates, but this time, we're MOST LIKELY releasing the MP on November 21. We want to give you guys the best, and not a half-assed beta. These delays have turned into something so natural some fans are ironically calling it "opposing force time" (a pun with "valve time" for those who didn't get it).

This should calm you guys down and show that we haven't been slacking at all. And no, we won't release it as it is. We still have to test a lot more and we're probably doing a few more maps for it. We want to make sure we'll deliver something REALLY enjoyable for you fans.

Finally, we may stop releasing media for atleast 20 days on October because we don't really want to spoil the whole mod before it even comes out, and that's pretty much what we've been doing. We'll keep on showing some cool stuff (like the Phoenix Truck we've shown this month), but anything that's entirely related to the MP won't be shown until November 21.

SDC: It's been some time since we've talked about OF2. What has changed since our last interview?
OF2: Alot has changed. We got some new development rules and stuff like that to organize the team a bit more and get rid of the slackers. That called the attention from a few modders, and we got ourselves new members, whose in my opinion, were the best additions to the Opposing Force 2 Team yet.

In a less technical subject, we changed almost the whole storyline and chapter formation, that caused us to completely alter the looks of the Phoenix army's marines and architecture. We also scrapped many NPCs, and introduced a few combine creatures like the Cremator or the Worm Soldier. We did the same with the weapons, we cut out some useless ones and added some enjoyful and useful weapons to play with, like the AR2 Mk. II, the Cryolator... I can't really say anything about those weapons, though, we're not planning on revealing them until November.

SDC: That's a pretty sweet theme song you got there. Any plans on releasing a full soundtrack?
OF2: We're probably not releasing a full soundtrack until the full release, this may take some time, so we'll just progressively supply the community with soundtracks on media releases.

SDC: How about that release date. Any estimate? Also, when will the demo release?
OF2: The release date for the full thing should be delayed to November next year since we've lost too much time on the multiplayer. And the demo's probably (yes, probably) coming out at our birthday this year (which is November 21).

SDC: Has the team expanded any? Do you have any open positions on the team at the moment?
OF2: OF2's team has expanded, indeed. We got a more solid formation, and it's been our best one too. Our actual formation is:

OF2: Actually, we don't wanna release media until the middle of October, but since this interview was pretty fun, I guess you can have a look at the illustration of OF2's protagonist by our artist Raging Bull:

OF2: Sure, but if I find any jokes about hamburgers and me... OF2 delayed.

You took the Half-Life grunt design and turned it into a Grayish-Green human-shaped blob. You made Helghasts with bigger, greener eyes.

This is what I hate about these remake mods, the HL style seems to be the first thing that gets "updated", not the things that actually should.

no man i mean for real, wtf? first of all stuff u put out is false and everything else makes no sence... just trolling around and wasting time, how bout'to use ur time for smth usefull?

anyway your job is awesome guys so keep the OF2 going on and make it even better then it is ;)

all other haters or whatever are left free to not play the mod when it gets out, so simply end of the story!

you guys make me sick, c'mon, show some respect.
i personally think there is nothing wrong with the mapping.
i also think that you could at least be decent enough to not trash a mod on it's own site. and what is this about "city 17 again" when the mod takes place in city 14.

and so what about the art of the main character? i personally could care less, as you never really see yourself, and i also think it looks good. the suit just appears more updated and is not a 'blob' and i don't think it looks that much like a helghast, but i also think i tis stupid if you are gonna cry anytime a mod has a character that looks like something from another game, because it happens, and what is more, the helghasts just look like some WWII germans, and since WWII serves as an inspiration to alot of mod/games, i think it is stupid to act like they are ripping content from a game.

an what annoys me more is that i see people giving these negative comments a thumbs up. if it was constructive, thumb away. but this stuff is just plain petty and just whining from someone who could never do that same most likely.
