My most sincerest apologies for not posting this sooner. I have finished my year of university as of April 21st, 2014. Having said this, I am currently working full-time (Theoretically even overtime in most cases) in order to raise money for tuition for the coming school year.
But that is of no concern of yours, I still manage to have time every now and again to mod, and I still have a desire to do so. What is important is the following:
I have decided to postpone the next update of the modification.
This is due to two reasons, which I will now elaborate upon.
1) First off, I simply haven't done enough to warrant an update. There has been very little actual progress in the realm of Coding, and while I have done things such as replace models with their newer counterparts, there are so, so many things I have fallen short on.
This is due to time constraints by not only myself, but the three man team. I'm most likely the person with the most free time right now, and I am technically at an impass.
2) There is only so much that can be done until I need to essentially scrap what exists now, and start over.
Essentially, in order to reach the goal of creating a truly functional, playable setup of my own under my own vision I need to scrap what I have been left with. This means that I will essentially throw out all of the Doctrine trees, units and vehicles and then consolidate my efforts to re-implement all of them in a consistent, organized manner.
THIS IS WHERE I NEED YOU!
There is currently one, kind individual under the username of Galatea who has taken it upon himself to compile an entire list of all of the units in this modification. So far, he has been able to compile most if not all of the "Wehrmacht" faction, AKA the Heer Army.
I am personally ashamed to ask the community to do any amount of work for me, but if I am to scrap the entire setup I currently have I need a comprehensive list of what unit goes where and the like.
I am personally calling anyone and everyone who is willing to assist in the listing of buildings and units to sign up on the forum above and help compile a comprehensive list. I will leave this news post up for 2-3 days before I personally try to take a stab at it myself; but I most certainly would be moved and extremely appreciative of anyone who helps me in this task.
Please refer to Galatea's format for the list if you wish to take this task on in any capacity, his format is elegantly laid out in a readable format which gives me all the information I need.
Whether this list is compiled by myself, the community or the most likely mixture of both I will immediately begin work on a full, 100% revamp as soon as it is complete. I estimate the process will take me at least a weeks worth of coding. Most likely, I will insert all units and buildings with the proper system and setup and allow the community to play around with them while Doctrine trees remain empty.
I hope everyone understands that regardless we are not giving up on this project, but it is in our best interest to stop, scrap the waste and rebuild. Doing this will speed updates in the future and in general will lead to a more consistent and enjoyable experience for everyone.
I humbly apologize for the postponement, but I refuse to stand behind something I do not believe is correct or what I want it to be. In order to move forward this simply needs to happen, and I will ensure it happens as fast as possible to ease the hearts and minds of the community.
PS: For those wondering, I will ensure that new formats that have been mentioned in regards to teching, squad sizes, models and damage systems are finished in the first build of the revamp. This will truly be our first release that is not off the back of Ken's coding.
