Normandy '44: European Theater combines a higher level of realism with a more elaborate doctrine system, which incorporates almost 50 different military units that took part in the period of Jun-Sept 1944. This spectrum ranges from divisions of free Polish and French units serving under the main allied armies to volunteers from the Eastern Front that served in the German Wehrmacht. This is only a small portion of the doctrine variety however, as we feature numerous well known units of all factions as well. The mod also features numerous new abilities and custom made units each with a completely revamped size and structure. Between custom made units and structures with historically correct skins, Normandy '44 offers over 150 NEW UNITS, making for an almost endless variety of different scenarios and unit actions. Combined these factors provide for an experience unlike any other mod for CoH!

The model is great but the real life penetration data of the 76.2mm ZIS-3T Model 1942 L/52 is absolutely horrible.
Range____> 100m_____500m_____1000m
Penetration 67mm____56mm_____45mm

Compared to the American 76mm 3 Inch M5 L/50
Range____> 100m_____500m_____1000m
Penetration 124mm___104mm____83mm

Or the British 76mm Q.F. 17 Pounder Mk.IV L/55
Range____> 100m_____500m_____1000m
Penetration 161mm___138mm____115mm

Are you sure this isn't a light howitzer? lol

This was a Purely used tank destroyer , remember the tanks of its era , when it came out there were no Panthers or Tigers , just medium PzKpfw III to PzKpfw IV tanks :P

Not correct.
Penetration on 100 metres is about 80mm, and with APCR round on 100 metres is about 120mm

You shound't compare it with heavy AT guns like the 3inch or the 17 pounder, this gun is a multi role field gun in the same level of the Canon modele 1897 fron the french. Btw I know this is a old post but I just find this mod.

Well you are all correct to a degree :)

The SU-76M was the 2nd most produced Soviet armoured vehicle produced during the war (2nd only to the T-34) and was produced until late '45 so it was still around when the big boys rolled out, but started in '43.

It was used most often in tank destroyer roles, but is "officially" an assault gun (like the StuG). The SU status (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka)was kind of a cross between assault guns and self propelled guns. The su-85 and isu-122 were used more in the TD role, whereas the SU-122 was purely used as support arty.

The SU-76M used various types of ammo, including AP and HE, and the elevation level of the ZiS-3sh (which had similar penetration to the t-34's F-34 76mm gun - which was most certainly less than US and CW 76mm guns - more similar to the their 75mm guns penetration wise) made it useful for indirect fire though weak in that role. And it's open turret made it ideal for infantry support.

So it was quite universal but were classified as tank destroyers within self-propelled artillery regiments

Such as how a Flak 18 could be used as an AT weapon however is classified as AA.

The 88mm was very good at killing planes and any tank. The 76.2mm ZIS-3T Model 1942 L/52 had to be within 500m to kill a PzIII and had no chance of Frontaly killing a PzIV (unless it uses a APCR round at 100m) :/ Thats what I call a bad "tank destroyer".

Its an assault gun, a "light howitwer".

the SU76 was also MUCH small than its current size... the crew in comparison are WAY to small

We have no choice but to use the size of Relic's stuff as the base, ESPECIALLY when it comes to anything with an open turret and the crew has to be seen. All of Relic's models are off that have a crew inside (Marder, Geschutz, etc...) compared to tanks. But the soldiers and crew are what they are - we can't change their size.

But as for the crew being too small (other than the fact they can't be changed in size), they were quite crammed in the SU-76 which is reflected in the model

Actually, when you think about it - if you assume the "people" in the CoH engine are the "constant" and correct, the SPA's and open turret SPG's are actually the right size and the tanks too small :)

Either way, with open turret models, we have to deal with what we have to deal with. We have no choice as the CoH is the engine and CoH map sizes/model sizes/etc... are the "standard" we have to work with.
