But isnt Japan not allowed to have a militarized force capable of sovereign operations outside the country? I dont know what the exact terms of the post-WWII mandate are so forgive me if i'm wrong there.
Well in Neotokyos timeline. this is a sort of secret civil war thats going on. The Jinrai forces are rouge elite units from japans army (the GSDF), who are trying to overthrow Japans Prime Minister, and start a new Military goverment.
The NSF were created to fight Jinrai forces.
so in short, you're incorrect, but historically accurate for the present day
