World War 1 had a very wide range of uniforms and my aim is reflect that in this mod (Major AND Minor factions) and to get as close to historically accurate as I can. I am also adding units to a few factions that I feel will benefit those factions rosters or just for a bit more Immersion.
"So? Where do we stand?"
"Our fighters are picking off the last of their recon picket now, nothing serious. But in about 90 seconds they'll be all over us."
Wait a minute... *Shuffles through jumbled mind notes and vinyl* Oh, here we go! *Puts brain on right track* Gotta stop listening to Halo soundtracks when I study...
NAUTICAL NATE'S DIVERSITY MOD IS ALMOST DONE! I could cry. The units are all finally built! All that is left is a few UI unit cards, descriptions of certain units, campaign implementation, technology implementation, geographical implementation, bug testing, coffee drinking, maybe a release trailer if someone really cool wants to DM me, campaign testing, THANK THE LORD ABOVE NO SCRIPT WRITING (I hate that stuff), more coffee drinking and designing and implementing a boot.pack for TGW (optional file).
I know it seems like a lot... *turns around and looks at the giant self created monster I need to finally defeat* "Sure does doesn't it?"... I am confident I will complete this task within my given deadline of...
NOVEMBER 11, 2023!!!!!!
There it is folks, original date for WW1 themed stuff I know.
Here's some things I have done differently in my mod than the OG besides just new units and different uniforms:
NO SHOTGUNS for anybody but the good ole US of A
NO SMGS for anybody but Germany and Italy
French (old) uniforms for various infantry units removed at mass mobilization technology upgrade and (mid) uniforms replace the (old) ones. (Until Trench Warfare upgrade then modern uniforms come in as usual)
STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO ADD USA ): Might just add some USA units to French or British foreign recruitment tech upgrade. (Most likely French)
Well that about sums it up. Still have plenty of work to do but the finish line is finally in sight.
I'd like to thank everybody who made it this far down the article and everybody who has supported my mod so far with ideas and just checking in on it. It means a lot to this history nerd. And last but not least...PICTURES:
Zouaves (mid)
French Infantry (English Blue)
Senegalese Tirailleurs (mid)
Alexeevsky Partisans
German Asia Corp (Ottoman unit)
Territorial Militia Uniform Change Through the War
Mod is on hold indefinitely. CA just release another crash, uh I mean update
It's here! After much delay and working it's finally here!
A quick update on the mod and plans for the future.
Here it is! Finally... I have done it. After some last minute changes on release day I managed to scrape by my set time. YES! Enjoy!
Creates a more colorful, diverse and historic unit look for TGW
Full Release of my The Great War Diversity Submod.
OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD OLD
Amazing work! Quick question about the Spanish general unit - the TGW Mod OG color (green/olive) appears to be correct. I recently installed this mod and the general now appears blue, is this accurate? Thanks in advance and again awesome work.
Cool mod NauticalNate. Would you be willing to make a version that has the extreme unit sizes, like the submod for the original TGW? If not, would you be able to tell me which file I need to go to change them?
I will look at it
Best mod ever bro. But i have a problem with texture resolutin :c How to fix it?
What's wrong with it?
low quality texture resolution in comparison with the original mod
Also you might check your texture quality settings ingame. It tends to reset itself when you aren't looking
can you send a picture?

Do you plan on changing the commander for each unit to a more respectable rank? Like obviously a Captain wouldn't be in charge of a machine gun unit, I imagine an enlisted man like a Sergeant would. It's only a little immersion breaking seeing such thing.
While on this topic, do you also plan to add rank insignia to the enlisted men models? Like a few men in a Battalion have Sergeant or Corporal Ranks and Chevrons?
In French military doctrine a captain is in charge of a Battery. That is a loosely defined word. A captain might not command a few machine guns but a Lieutenant certainly would.
As for rank and insignia I have tried but the way the uniform dispersion in the game works you end up with half a regiment of Sergeants. It's not ideal but I have to work with what I've got.
