A Remastered edition of the original, 2009 “Movie Duels 2” mod for Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, with updated maps, models, sounds and various other improvements, to bring the mod into the modern age.

The fifth big update to Movie Duels has arrived! Featuring three new missions, Duel Maps from Dark Forces 2, and more! This release is also split into two parts. 1-1-2021 Hotfix: Fixed missing Fives helmet texture Fixed missing jetpack on Helmetless Boba (The Mandalorian) Fixed issue where spawning the new Clones caused the player to not be able to use any weapon while spawning them.

Update 5:
///Missions\\\
Short Negotiations:
- Added more Battledroids throughout the level, especially in the Hangar.
- Added Waypoints throughout the level so the Battledroids will move around greatly, and so Obi-Wan can properly follow the player. Applies to the Duel Map as well.
- Reverted the forcefield room and Control Room Hall sections to their MD2 design, with improvements made to them.
- Fixed Obi-Wan always looking to either his right or left instead of looking at the Player or Battledroids.
- Fixed one of the forcefield room Maintenance Droids holding a blaster instead of "using" a console.
Encounter in the Desert:
- Added Qui-Gon to appear next to Anakin in the opening cutscene.
- Made Maul's speeder bike spawn in for Jedi POV.
- Added a short video of the ship and Qui-Gon fleeing at the end to both POVs.
**Duel of the Fates**
- Upgraded the map to use MB2's DOTF Map, and overhauled all of the cinematics to be film accurate!
Bounty Hunter's Escape:
- The player will now swap to Jetpack-less Jango in the second Stage of Jango's POV.
Petranaki Arena:
- Overhauled lighting for the whole map to look more realistically lit.
- Added a nodrop brush to the Arena floor in the Jedi POV so that a *little* FPS is saved from having no dropped Battledroid guns.
- Added partial Waypoint support to the map, primarily the Jedi POV in the Catacombs, so Shaak Ti will successfully go up the staircase back to the Arena.
- Replaced Asajj Ventress with a Jedi Hunter Droid, so it fits better canonically and doesn't feel out of place.
- The Sand floor now uses the proper material type, so sand footsteps and sounds are used instead of default, hard surface footsteps.
- Edited the objective text for Jango's POV, to make it more clear that you're meant to kill common Jedi.
- Fixed a bug present since MD2, where Jango's flamethrower in the intro was going backwards into Jango instead of towards Windu.
- Fixed Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Padme being Jango's allies, causing every Jedi to attack all three of them.
- Fixed Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Padme not being Invincible in Jango's POV.
- Fixed Geonosis Battledroids not spawning in the ending cutscenes for Jango POV, mishap with forgetting to adjust with the Battledroid NPC naming update.
**Rescue Over Coruscant**
- Massively extended the Jedi POV, featuring Anakin and Obi-Wan fighting Battledroids through the Hangar, through the elevator halls, getting caught by ray shields, and fighting Grievous inside the Command Bridge.
- Overhauled camera angles and scenes in the Dooku section to be ROTS accurate.
Arrest the Chancellor:
- Added the prologue scene from the Bonus Mission, and overhauled it to be near film-accurate!
- Updated Palpatine's sitting animation and restored the saber reveal sound.
- Fixed the cutscene where Palpatine and Windu duel each other down the hallway so they no longer get stuck.
- Fixed Windu not being removed after defeating him next to the window (Sith POV).
A Friendship In Flames:
- Added saber clashes for lava scene.
- Upgraded music quality of the alternate BOTH Ending's music.
**A Great Disturbance In The Force**
- A Fully Scripted Cinematic Teaser for upcoming Episode 5 Missions in the future.
**The Great Pit Of Carkoon**
- A New Mission that recreates Luke's daring rescue of his friends from Jabba's Sailbarge over the Great Pit of Carkoon!
**A Cold Confrontation**
- A New Mission that recreates Finn and Rey's encounter with Kylo Ren in Starkiller Base's forest!
**Family Ties**
- A New Mission that recreates Kylo Ren's final duel with Luke Skywalker on Crait!
Starkiller's Last Trial:
- Added waypoint navigation to the map.
- Added a nodrop brush slightly above the floor, so enemies' dropped weapons despawn when hitting the floor, saving on FPS.
**Forgotten Heritage**
- Extended with an additional sequence taking place on one of the Jedi Temple's spires, where the player must fight Imperials and reach the entrance.
Challenge Mode:
- Overhauled Challenge Mode's level order so it's organized by timeline.
- Added Ahsoka Tano [Rebels] Challenge.
- Added Rey Challenge.
- Added Luke Skywalker [TLJ] Challenge.
- Somehow Palpatine [TROS] returned for the final Challenge level.
- New Loading screens for all challenges.
- Replaced four-armed grievous with the two-armed version so the better model is used.

- Updated with a newer version of the map by Langerd, which looks more screen-accurate to ROTJ with color tones, includes Shadows, and features collisions inside the Sarlacc Pit.
- Added Waypoint support (applies to the Skiff with Sarlacc plank and the Sailbarge).
World Between Worlds:
- Updated with more recent version of the map by the Author, changes below:
- Changed the color of portals and path lines from plain white to a more blueish/grayish white, which is a bit more accurate and more pleasing to the eyes.
- Completely remade the skybox images, now 4k, more clean, bit less darker blackness of space, far less cluttered with stars, stars are smaller. Overall less obstructing to the eyes
which makes the paths and portals pop out more.
- Added 4 generic portals and some path lines to the main 'plaza' of the map, which makes it easier to orientate when navigating.

- Added randomized thermal effects for Grans in AMD mode.
- Reworked how Saber Locking works.
- Added option to have blood mist on Saber Dismemberment.

- Added Jedi Outcast Push effect, alongside a toggle for push effects, with the options of JKA Push, JK2 Push, or no effect.

- Moved the saber, force and weapon menus from the JKA submenu all into commands menu for quicker access, using the same format as the NPC commands menu.

- Added NPC Recent Command bind that will execute last used command.
- Added NPC key binds to the menu for easier access.

- Added an option to set whether friendly NPCs will follow you when spawned.
- Added option to set NPC hilt and saber color.

A new DLC system for the mod, as a way for adding and featuring Legends-based missions in the mod! All TFU and ROTE Missions have been moved here in conjunction
with this change, being replaced by TCW and Rebels mission menus respectively.
///Weapons\\\
**Effects**
- Updated many wall impact effects for blasters to use kalamaray's "Enhanced Impact Effects" as they're much more performance friendly, and while they're not as varied as Ultimate Weapons impacts, still look quite good and don't tank FPS this much.
**Force Powers**
- Updated Force Destruction's effects and damage per level, so it functions more like the original DF2 Force Power.
- Updated Force Rage's cooldown icon to be smaller and located above the HUD.
- Updated Force Stasis' sound effect.
- Updated dashing sound effect so it's no longer using a force stasis sound, but a proper EAFront 2 sound.
**Models**
- Updated E-11 with improved textures and fixed lighting on the third person model.
- Resized the Thermal Detonator's third person model to be 50% smaller so they're more accurate to ROTJ's scaling.
**Balancing**
- Westar-34 no longer has infinite Primary Fire.
**Sounds**
- Fixed ATST firing sounds using droideka laser sounds. Also fixed the muzzle flash effect.
- Restored the original Blaster Selection sound from JK2/JKA. Added to the E-5 and F-11D as well.
- Updated Repeater sound to use a similar but improved repeater sound.
- Updated A280's firing sounds, and replaced selection noise with Flechette's.
- Updated DC-17M selection sound with it's original RC sound effect, which was the original Blaster selection replacement.
- Updated DH-17 firing sounds to use their own and not re-use DL-44. Replaced selection sound with pistol's selection for consistency.
- Updated EE-3 firing sounds. Changed selection sound to reuse the Flechette's.
- Updated F-11D firing sounds so they're accurate to TFA.
- Updated Westar's alternate firing sound. Replaced selection sound with pistol's selection for consistency.
///Bug Fixes\\\
- Raised Shader Max Indexes Limit.
- Fixed "Hand Decapitated Zombie" bug, in which when the player decapitates an NPC's hand in a Saber Lock, the NPC lived and was invincible while still trying to attack.
- Fixed Magnaguard Staves' "blades" being too short, which made them weaker than their MD2 counterparts.
- Fixed the player being unable to use weapons after spawning a droideka.
- Fixed NPCs that used flamethrowers still using them after death, saving FPS and fixing various sounds cutting off.
- Fixed a few sounds in Reelo's soundpack not working from incorrect formatting.
- SBD no longer loses weapon when pulled/choked.

You need to install update 4 and then this update. Replace any file that is already in update 4.
If this doesn't work fully remove the "MD" folder from the update 4 (the combined one from all 3 downloads) and drag the update 5 "MD" folder into it's place. Seems there's something wonky about mixing the update files. Copy everything else the same as you would with any update.

Maybe you uploaded files to the wrong folder?
I had that problem until I figured out that I have to remove the previous patch files from the MD folder. Just to be safe, remove the old MD folder entirely and then install it again.

Hello, dear developers! With the update, I had a lot of problems in the game. For example, periodic crashes and bugs. Here's the situation. I want to save the game so I can play my level later, but when I load it, my character can't move. man i'm desperate i waited so long for this mod, but when i go to open the battle maps it just crashes and then the game closes, please fix it
how should i install it update 5 does not work see no missions to episode 5-8

Announcement regarding the hotfix coming soon™️, but with a ping this time around.
It turns out that the bug with NPCs having their movement speed and gravity really screwed up, that we seemingly fixed, turned out to actually not be fixed. There's also been some issues with figuring out a proper fix for the known save game bugs plaguing Update 5's release, we'd like to apologize for that, and should have tested for bugs like that before releasing the Update, though we also didn't want to disappoint with a second delay after already announcing one.
I should also mention that currently the hotfix is less of an actual hotfix, and more of a patch, the Update 5 Patch to be precise, as since the release we've added a few more changes and fixes to various things, such as Jango Fett having his health lowered from 4000 to 1000 HP in Bounty Hunter's Escape, since it was balanced around inconsistent saber damage values, and I've also overhauled/added waypoints for a few duel maps.
The Update 5 Patch's release is currently still dependent on fixing said issues with player and NPC freezing, after all that's the main reason for the Patch in the first place, though this does not mean you should pester Jace over it, as like any of us, he has IRL stuff happening too, and works on coding for us whenever he can.
On the bright side, we have Google Drive Mirror Links for Update 5 on MD's ModDB Home Page, so people who are having trouble downloading from ModDB's servers can use those instead.
TL;DR When we have working fixes for the savegame bugs, we'll immediately release the Patch and update the main releases with all the changes and fixes.

It's the same with me, I suggest you go back to version 4 until they release the update patch for Version 5

What files would I be missing I have both Outcast and Jedi Acadmey installed
I have Jedi Outcast installed and it's playable as a separated game, but when I open Jedi Outcast from inside Movie Duels the textures doesn't work. How can I fix this?
Also, to play the Jedi Outcast demo level on Movie Duels I have to install it too right?
Hello, I can't push maul in duel of the fates on the catwalk, I kick him using the push force but nothing happens, so I can't throw him down and continue the duel and the story. Could it be a bug or error or some technique that I don't know?

whenever i play missions it either quits me out saying im missing models of something or when i am in a mission the lightsabers are not correct they become all squares. if anyone could help that would be great
Okay I'm going to give some criticism of this new update, everything is great and I love the additions and menu changes just I hate the slow load times and the game is kinda buggy and has occasional freeze ups. I know you're not a AAA Dev team and just making mod and I appreciate that and love your work just wish this update ran better.
Whenever a quick save and than load in, it makes me move really slow and bugs out
