It's been almost 9 years since the release of the original mod, that was created by Wector and we thought it was about time it got a "Remaster". After playing through it numerous times and looking into the assets that came with the mod, originally.. Everything within the mod itself, is actually very accurate and everything's in place, already. But it was clear to us, that it "lacked" in a number of areas, that the more modern mods are including, either by default or as an option.
List of some KEY improvements, over the original mod:
- Mod is using OpenJK as its primary game engine.
- New & accurate lightsaber blades (the "movie-like" SFX Sabers have been added).
- New & more accurate lightsaber sounds.
- Faster lightsaber ignition speed.
- New animations and duel stances for most of main SW characters.
- New camera angles.
- New & improved player models.
- New & more movie "accurate" skyboxes and map textures.
- HD audio dialogues, music and option for subtitles.
- Expanded character menu and basic menus with more options.
We’re releasing this statement, in order to prevent any further negative responses about the authorship of this modification. In recent days, we’ve come across a critical opinion that we’re usurping the work of Wector, to build-up our own fame and prestige in the JK community. We’d like to publicly distance ourselves from this adultery and explain the recent changes in the name of the modification, itself.
Firstly, we’d like to inform everyone that we’re not doing this project for our own fame, money or anything else.. But for you - the Community and the STAR WARS fans. This mod is a continuation of Wector's work and we do not take credit for what he’s done.
Secondly, it is a tribute. The tribute to a great and hard-working guy, who has put this together, alone. Unfortunately, Wector is no longer active in this community. If he was still around, we’re sure he would’ve no doubt updated or continued his work, just like we are doing now.
Thirdly, we have decided to rename the mod to just simply “STAR WARS: Movie Duels”. We know how much a few of you have stressed to see the name changed. We first removed the number "2", because there wasn't any official MD1. It was something like a Beta version and not a complete conversion, like this. So, previously, we were known as just “STAR WARS: Movie Duels (Remastered)”. But now it’s even time to delete the “Remastered" affix, because we are entering to another phase of development. The MD Beta has showed you that the Prequel part is almost completed and we’ve now, slowly started another one - our own new missions. So, another change in the name was inevitable because this won't just be a “Remaster", anymore. We’ve decided to make it sooner, rather than later and inform you about it.
To demonstrate that we are not usurping the authorship for Wector's part, we’ve put both Wector and our MD development team credits in the Welcome! screen of our mod. So, the proof is there!
In the end, we’d like to thank you for your support, positive reviews and the fact that this game still has such a large fanbase, like it does.

Really love the aesthetics of this mod, kinda wish you guys waited to be out of "beta" though, because out of the first three episodes i played several levels of them just dont work right with quicksaves, when the levels loaded all the npcs stand in place and become invincible. Its happened in the Tuskan Camp, the Return to the Jedi Temple, Mustafar and the Duel of the Heros, which was especially infuriating because I only reloaded my save since Anakin wouldnt get off the platform and fight, and then he didnt move, and then when i typed kill in the console to restart the stage the cutscene glitched and got stuck in an infinite loop til I alt tabbed and stopped the game in task manager

Sad to say but I kind of have to give up now. Really hope these get fixed soon and I would love to see the new content in the future! Best of luck, please fix!
Hello mate, dont give up. Thing is save/load system for this mod is broken for now. We will try to fix it. Play it just without saves, if it is too hard for you then use god mode :)
How did you get taunts and gloats to work? I've followed the steps on JKHub to the letter for converting sounds, yet the only active sounds I can get to works are anger and victory.
It should work then. Dont forget sounds has to be mono and 44100 khz.
Just wondering have you guys ever thought about adding a feature to the magnaguards, where you can cut of their head, and they still fight you headless like in the film. Is that possible to create in jedi academy?
It isnt possible, there is only possibility to add separated headless skin (that is presented on Assassination on Mustafar).
Great job remastering this epic mod! You should add the other Separatists leaders and their aides to the Mustafar mission (Poggle, San Hill, Passel Argente, etc.)
We've already added Neimoinidian Aide and Shu Mai but we had some problems with Poggle, Tikkes and the rest. Hope we can fix it soon but if not, it is just little detail you know :)
So when I try to load Movie Duels from the game Jedi Academy it does not load. The SP Console appears and says, and it also flashes red which I could tell its a bad thing. I NEED HELP.

You are running mod through Jedi Academy game. You have to start it with md icon.
