Oddball Glock 17s? Thread - The Armed Zone mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

While browsing Bonesetter's offerings just now, I by chance happened upon a strange disparity between what should be nearly identical guns. I certainly can't say whether this is a bug, but it surely bears mention.

So he's selling some Glocks. When aren't they, right? But something seems off between a pair of them. Both claim to be Glock 17s with neither one claiming to be an (Alt) variant, even though they utilize different icons (and likely models). They're side by side in his menu. The one on the left holds 19 rounds and costs a modest amount of RU.

Meanwhile, the other Glock 17 to the right holds only 17 rounds, yet for some reason costs nearly 20k more.

For the heck of it, I decided to buy and try both. At first, the compared stats of both reveals the more expensive of the two to be a smidge more accurate than the other. I assume though that this isn't the Glock 17 (Custom) that you mentioned for the upcoming patch - That's way too big a price variance.

Upon further inspection while equipping the two against each other, I quickly noticed that they're not just different models but employ entirely different animation sets in all regards. They're also held at different angles and seen from different viewpoints, and the expensive one even seems smaller than the other one.

The first, cheaper G17 appears as I've seen in various other mods. A solid handgun with good sights and animations with minimal kick & rise in the gunshot anim, allowing for easy, rapid follow-up shots.

Curious, then, is the case of the "premium" Glock 17. This one quickly distinguishes itself from the other with a Silvery-Grey slide compared to the all-Black finish of the other. While feeling tinier than the other, it also seems to be held lower and further away from the body than the other, while also being aimed less straightforward and oddly at an angle. The animations are different and noticably slower than before (draw/sheathe anims in particular are sluggish in comparison). Firing while sighting down with this one uses animations which illustrate muzzle climb significantly higher than the other model, but what's immediately apparent is how obstructive an Exo is to the view.

So, any idea what the deal is with the pricey one? I assume the cheaper one is normal.

That black Glock has got kuba and I in a crazy loop trying to figure out what to do with it, it goes by Glock P80 in textures and section name. From what kuba explained to me it's Austria's army way of calling the G17, than again, it should have an identical look to the G17, not being totally different. I'm still troubled with this exact gun and what to do with it, we'll see about this some other time. On the other hand, the actual G17 will be much worth the cash you spend on it, the model I mean, with the next patch it'll be way cooler and worth buying. Same to be said for the other G17 variants, esp Alt. G18c is another story!

Yeah they're just different Glock models with no (alt) at name, that's all. Performance-wise they're the same. The price is weird, should be roughly the same. I'll inspect it

Ahh, G18 would be semi-managable if it weren't for that cursed cam_dispersion_inc stat and it's sighted equivalent. Never did like that garbage stat - what other game increases recoil with every continuous automatic shot? But I digress.

I actually liked the G18 model over the G18C. Looks and feels more like a Custom variant, and the tritium sights are a nice touch. At least the C has a bigger mag and should have less recoil, but I'm not sure on that 2nd part.

But I'll look forward to what the next patch brings and a renewed hunt for new guns. I guess I should work on finishing up the story in Pripyat in case I need to start over once again. Any word on that revised weapon upgrade series by that other dude? I'm so full of cash.

Glock17 and 18c got heavily revised, all of them use new models, and that G18 is no more part of TAZ, it is now G18C Alterative, and the reason for this is quality. I couldn't find a good G18 so I went with an extra G18C variant.
