Star Wars Mod for the Egosoft X3 series game, specifically Albion Prelude. This mod adds High quality ships, locations and sounds, as close as possible to the original films, something most people seem to loose focus of.

I know Miksha already has a full plate with where he's planning on taking this mod and for X4. That being said, I thought this would be a great place to add some ship/game ideas/requests.

My request is to have variable droid units that add different or multiple bonuses to a ship. R2s, R4s, BB8s, etc., might boost speed, boost shields, boost maneuverability, help repairs, etc. Similarly, maybe there could be unique ships that are hidden randomly in the universe. A Millenium Falcon that has special modifications like being faster and more maneuverable than other YT-3000s, Vader's tie interceptor, Boba Fett's Slave I, etc.

What do you think? :)

Sounds like an interesting idea, my request would just be more ships, maybe the option for other settings like Early Empire period or clone wars or something like that.

so far we have R2 units in which provide repairs and missile defense but mountable only on a few ships so far.

there are several YT-1300 variants in, i mean modified ones, military, Hans one, a similar pirate one , military and civil variants, By the way, Han and chewy are flying around in the x3 universe and you can capture the Millennium Falcon if you wish.
the pirates aso have some modified ships, many randoms.

Some thoughts on the C70 Consular class cruiser - would it be possible to change the colour scheme of the better armed military transport version to the grey / red version of the clone wars while letting the less armed civilian version (from Episode I) keep the diplomatic red skin? Also at the moment the C70 bridge lights aren't visible.

When I enter the cheat menu to spawn ship I still see many Duplicated ships - is it possible to remove these duplicates as well as rename all ships that share same name but are diffrent (eg. diffrent variants of Y-Wings)?

P.S Can you rename "Destroyer XL" to Bellator Star Destroyer?

kgocb001, some of the same ships are different configurations besides the title. Also, since the game doesn't support color schemes, Mik has several of the same ship in as different colors. I know there are at least 3 pelta-class frigates with the same specifications, the standard red (which is what you buy at the shipyard) that is also used for the military ships, a bronze/yellow that belongs to Jonferco represenative (president?), and silver/blue that belongs to private militaries/companies (OTAS, etc).

Ey Mik, if this thread is for taking recommendations, I have a fair few, but I'll keep it to one ship in this since it was shown above. :)

Since it was mentioned above, the C70 Assault class is waay overpriced for what it offers compared to pretty much every other corvette in the game. Even the vanilla CR90 is more useful, which cost 40% of the C70ac. I'd say dump the current light cruiser config (the one with impulse ray & particle cannon ports all over, completely useless) and make the current assault frigate the "light version" for about the same price as a corellian dp20 (exchanging guns and agility for storage space, essentially). Then make a new Assault config with :

1) Looking at the pic, the front and side turrents should be able to equip at least RH-8 Flak turrents for better anti-fighter power that isn't very useful against capital ships at least. Wait, this is clone war, so Flak Turrent Array instead of RH-8, right?

2) Up the Marine capacity to 20, along with boarding pod missile compatibility. Didn't they use this ship as a smaller troop transport during the wars?

3) Tractor/repair beam compatibility to the main guns (8 ports) & rear turrents would make it a good fighter/support/utility cruiser to have in the fleet instead of a cool paperweight.

Ey Mik, did you ever figure out how to build a fully functional Nebulon B Frigate? If anyone who doesn't know asks (excluding mik, I know he's done research on it!), the original design (before the medical frigate modification) had a docking bay of either 12 or 24 fighters (sources differ), 12 RH-8 anti-fighter guns, and 12 anti-cruiser guns (PPC?). It started out as an Imperial design to protect convoys from rebel raids. Also, in the old star wars games and discussions, 3 Nebulon B Frigates, could, in conjunction, match up 50/50 against an Imperial-1 Class Star Destroyer. Since the thin spar can't be made into a weak point in X3AP, you'd probably have to give it slightly weaker armor for the class, despite the fact that it was a well armored (and very well rounded) frigate. :/

Edit : Forgot to mention, the DP37 Frigate is awesome overall, but the ability to dock corvettes into it's hanger on such a small ship looks awful >.< ..... maybe make it so that it can attach one corvette/transport to the bottom like some of the star destroyers?

I have not revisited the C70s yet I will also be adding a TM C70, your suggestions are great and I will consider them, regarding the weapons, just remember we are about 20 years after the battle of Endor, it doesn't matter if the ship is from the clone wars, its been heavily upgraded since then and should be able to compete with more modern ships, so I guess Ill equip it with the same weapons that the CR90 can take.

Dp37, I didn't know it could dock corvettes :D Its a dock port ID issue , I'll restrict it to just fighters.

I'm playing through now to test for balance and bugs myself, also updating many ships as I go including replacing vanilla x3 ships, notices the Alliance story has issues again, fixed what I came across so far, I'm also fiddling with shaders trying to get things looking more realistic, heavier light reflections but less mirror effect to make it look like the Film Rogue One, no success there yet :(

Btw, would appreciate it if you could just dock one corvette on the bottom of the DP37, it looks like it has a connector there..... although repair beams on the 4-gun front turrent would be cool too. ;)

Vanguard mentions something I also had a question about, balancing. What sources are you basing your ship balancing on? This question came up for me when installing some other xsp ships I found with different balancing(ps I have no idea why some xsp seem to refuse to work). I remember how in some of the xwing games the frigate especially varied in power, it was a much more dangerous opponent in Xwing and Tie-fighter than in Xwing Alliance. I also remember the mission V mentions where 3 frigates take on an ISD head on, which works in that game's balancing but according to other sources should seem to be a fairly easy win for the destroyer based upon the scale of the weaponry carried and relative strengths of the ships involved. I guess my point is that there are varied sources to base the ship strengths upon, and I was curious what you were using.

Balancing is based on several factors, 1: I played all those games you mentioned and loved them, I still remember what the visual effective range of weapons was on fighters and how much it took to shoot someone down, so regarding fighters it will be somewhat like the X-Wing Tie Fighter Games, keeping in mind 20 years have gone by a the Empire has lost a lot of their industry forcing them to upgrade existing ships (putting shields on basic Ties).
2: Wookiepedia, some factors I take from there like variants, and equipment mounted, shield capacity to some extent.

3: The Original trilogy: even watching it today, the space battle of Endor is way more epic than any modern Star Wars movie, now im hoping to recreate that feel, one things i cant really use from the X-Wing and Tie fighter games is the crafts speed, look at how fast they are in the Films.

X3 engine has a problem though, hard coded physics & Newtonian flight, I need the ships to make much tighter turns to be able to avoid fire and or crashing into stuff.
my theory is in the star wars universe ships used their anti gravity drives to make those turns by releasing a burst of energy when making a turn as "flight assist", if anyone wishes to argue "realism"
So right now ships shields are very high to up surviveability since they cant change direction fast enough, i hope we will have this remedied in x4.

Can you also add TIE/fo - First order basic fighter? It's like TIE/sf but without back turret.

One more request + can you add proper sound for Ion cannons?

ill get to the sounds soon again, have a list of sounds that need changing or tweaking.

So so. The Venator still has the republic logo but still not the red stripes on top. Haven't figuered out where to finde the grey / red version of the C70? Any hind?

Eisen, all of the C70's are the deep red one currently, I'm sure Mik was talking about the different Venator appearances.

They Grey one is the Teladi M6M, named "C-70 Consular Cruiser Military transport"

I think i put just 2 Venators in, one with a rebel insignia and one with Republic insignia which should have a warn looking red stripe.

I checked all C70 versions ingame again - they are all just completely red. There are two Venator variants in the game - the rebel and the republic ones but both have the same grey skins. Only the faction logo varies.

IT should be easy to make Silencer by using Tie Aenger with First Order texture and making whole model a bit more flat and longer than Avenger.
