The Middle Ages Forever mod allow you to use a lot more of dates!
You can:

-Start the game since the year 1 (but first playable character born only at 51 PCN)

-Select any start date between 1 and 99999 PCN (for exemple to play Pepin or between hold gods dlc and 1066)

-Continue your game for millennium

But this mod only use the main game event and character, so if you want to play a more exiting games, use other mods! :)
