The 'Middle Earth Roleplaying Project' aims to recreate J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth in the Creation engine of 'Skyrim'. The player will be plunged into Middle Earth near the end of the Third Age, not long before the War of the Ring breaks out.

Looks good already :P cant imagin what it will look like once its done :D 10/10. At this rate of progress i'd say this conversion mod of skyrim will be done in around 4-6 months.
I would guess for... 1-2 years. :P
Remember we first focus on Rohan alone, and release it when it's done. Including a fair amount of playable content. I can't tell you when it'll be done, we have no idea ourselves. So far progress is decently fast, but we're still at world building stage. We can't know yet how fast progress will be when we get to implementing Actors, AI, dialogue and quests.
Hmm, will you recommend the Rohan release, or to wait for the full release?
I mean, I'm most likely to wait for the full release, so I can experience Everything in one piece, rather than doing a whole region again. And also because when 1.0 will be released, it sounds like it's mostly for the main-quests and that it's not the release of MERP, but the release of the War of the Ring quest-line.
Am I totally wrong here or? :P
i too rather have the whole thing to play
"I'm most likely to wait for the full release." That's what you're thinking now, but can you bear the wait? :P
Don't forget there will be a lot of quests in the Rohan release, and the next release, and the next up to v1.0. So there'll be plenty to do. I also remember Maegfaer saying that there will be extra stuff added to all the regions for the v1.0 release, as well as the ringbearer questline. So I would recommend playing through all the regions to keep yourself busy waitng for the next one to come. But hell, torture yourself if you want to. :P :P
In the end it wouldn't surprise me if I would go for the Rohan release, but... right now, I can bear the wait. I still don't know every detail and if the Rohan release has some major quests, then I don't think I would go for it.
That should be an experience, to be experienced in the full release, I think.
To see the major locations, is something I want to do when the whole ME is ready to be explored, not something I will "return" to when 1.0 is released.
Just my opinion by the way. We'll see in the future. :P Still information on the content and differences between full release and Rohan release, is definitely appreciated. :D
There will be a good number of good quests for Rohan. However, 1.0 has more regions than just one, so some quests will only be seen in 1.0. .1 won't spoil the surprise for that content ;)
You can bear the wait right now because you have no other option. :P
Yeah I know, but you know what I mean xD When I think of the Rohan release, I can sit back and wait... at the moment. :P
I'd do child voice acting but my voice is a bit too deep to be a good child voice actor :/
Ground looks kinda desolate and void:)
Just a WIP of the region generation ;) It will still need detailing by our landscape designers!
Correction is required here, Alasdair missed one of our updates, causing missing grass and landtextures. So they do exist, these screenshots are just incomplete.
Updated!
woah! this is epic
Will there be a "Grass Density" slider like there was in oblivion merp?It really made the game more beautiful.
Yeah, I'm sure we can add one.
Was suggesting this because the ground looks kind of empty in some of the screenshots - especially in this one.I've just seen the other screens and they look incredible, I can't wait to get lost in Middle-Earth.
I'm curious though, with such a big world, how will you avoid monotony?
custom assets and good old fashioned detailing. Some level of monotony is inevitable, but our workflow is designed to keep it to a minimum ;)
One thing I would like to mention. The oak trees seem overly dense with foliage and green for the interior of a wood or forest (not density of the trees). I'd recommend changing it so the inner trees have a slightly more raised canopy, thinner foliage distribution and tall due to competiton for light. I wonder on the species of oak that Tolkien had in mind because of its location near Gondor. Is that mentioned anywhere?
I know its WIP and I realise that it might be a fiddle too far.
I'm loving the scale of the work, the Whispering Wood filled with oak is fantasticly amazing.
WAIT A MOMENT THE PICTURE'S BEEN CHANGED (Taking back some of the above)
Ahhh it must have been Sarumans doing. Last time I saw textures in a game! And now I see Middle Earth?! I except a full explanation of what wizardry that made this happen!!
I really like this picture btw ^^
I can wait for this mod as long as it takes so long as you keep posting such wonderful pictures.
Awesome work!!! ;)
