This was my first thought when I saw it as well. xD
When I played that mission in HW2 Remastered it wasn't that bad, ofcourse I hijacked the Hyperspace gates & stole the enemy destroyer while I blew up the pesky carriers building the frigates!!!
That destroyer made subsequent missions easier till I could build my own, lasted nearly half the campaign!!
Man i remember as well but the most memorable moment is Thaddis sabbah
