Mall Trip is a custom Doom map set in the 1980s with unique textures, sounds, and sprites built in for an atmospheric and suspenseful playthrough. It uses vanilla weapons and enemies so feel free to pair it with your favorite replacers. Choosing Ultra Nightmare trasnsforms the map with nonstop action. Story: The mall closed down early and unexpectedly, no one is allowed in and something can be heard from within. You decide to head in alone with just your pistol and your ammo pack. Trotting through the snow from your car, you soon reach the entrance. Inside, it's completely transformed by the night hours, the corridors and stores lit by neon lights, flickering bulbs, and the glow of the moon.
Mall Trip Version 1.0 please message me about any bugs, improvements, or problems you have.
This is absolutely gorgeous!Thanks for this!
Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy it! It’s great for pairing other mods with, I especially like the alien eradication or the warhammer tyranid enemy replacer :}
You're very welcome! :)
Looks like you absolutely put in the work with this, will have to see how it actually plays later, but the screenshots definitely have me interested.
Thank you :}
Please let me know what you think of it, I always love reading suggestions for how to make it better :}
Ooooh, now this looks nice just from the pictures.
Thank you very much, I really had a great time incorporating color and atmosphere into this map! It was a great time to make.
Do not want to be a toxic bastard, but you might want to compress, at the very least, *.wav audio files, since "sounds" folder is about ~700+ Mb in size and there is a lot of uncompressed music here...
Not to mention that you might want to use straight 8-bit *.png files for textures themselves, since there is many non-transparent images right here that isn't need 32-bit all down the road.
Personally, I successfully compressed your map up to ~170 Mb...
Thank you for the feedback, it’s no problem. I’m still quite new to modding and sharing doom files. If you would be willing, I would love to have your compressed version as a possible download on this file. It would definitely help when I update this map :}
Yes, I think it would benefit all of us that your 170 MB version of this file would be better off released.
Just released an update drastically reducing file size
Is jumping allowed?
Shouldn’t cause any issues as far as I know. I tried to make sure that key locked doors were the only barriers between areas
