Lord of the Rings: Source is a total modification of the Source Engine. The plan is to throw the player into an age of battle over several of the key locations within Tolkien's Books, and the movie.
Progress on Helm's Deep. Next on the list:
- Fog/Rain
- Lighting
- Final wall (to the left of the keep)
- Textures
- Ladders and finishing touches.
Cool, it is a begin of a map.
wow looks very nice. :)
You know in the movie there was this side door, near the ramp to the right. Could be used to sneak up on enemies :)
Not very realistic however. Please, take a second look at the movie. Also do not forget the caves.
Apart from some obvious scale issues. I think its pretty close, the side wall is now built, and the cliffs are fixed. Im sorting out the lighting later today, and right now building the inner caves, the side door to the ramp and also the towers on the side wall to the left.
After this, textures will be sorted out, and then after that i will start on the battlefield :)
yeah, thats being added in soon, there are a total of three ways into the keep (gate, ladders, and side door) however to open the main gate it needs to be knocked down, the side door can then be opened for quick access. people using the ladders can also open the side door :)
As far as caves go, inside there is the great hall, and a few passage ways, the caves are customised to fit gameplay, creating a path around the back of the keep (underground) and there is a walkway underground leading to the enterance of the tower. as far as geometry goes, the map is pretty much complete, once i get some lighting in the underground areas ill get some screenshots :), but for now, imagine this picture with the long wall to the left of the keep.
Thanks.
why dont you take this map from AOC mod and than edit it? ask the AOC team if they autorize you
We could ask, but we would rather use our own work :)
it is getting there.
very nice
