Lonely Christmas I: Amnesia The Dark Descent Custom Story

Positives:

- Surprisingly good level design
- Scary
- Good scripting (some of it even unqie)

Negatives:

- Story line could be better
- Except for the tree, this has nothing to do with christmas at all. It's not even winter outside
- Your english is so horribly bad I was on a thin line to start crying
- What is the point of the bonus rooms? I didn't get any awards for completing them, in fact, my health and sanity was worse when I returned to the "normal" world

Conclusion:

Why is it called "Lonely Christmas"? Is it because you released it around christmas time? Because that, and the christmas tree in the first room are the two only reasons I can think of. It doesn't focus on christmas or winter what so ever.

It was a scary experience though and I was surprised by how much time you spent on the level design and scripting. So far the story is thin, but otherwise it's actually not that bad. Looking forward for part 2!

(And before you upload part two, please spend more time on your translation. It's embarrassing)

7/10 - Good

Gorgeous lighting, compelling maps, and scary atmosphere are let down by an infuriating platforming section (albeit optional), somewhat obtuse puzzles, and a game-breaking bug that required me to restart the whole mod (couldn't crawl past the bookcase on the return trip because the door was closed).

Pretty good mod. Castle looks realistic.

Was going good, up until that eagle section, where you enter another realm/dimension for absolutely no reason, well when you come back out, the door that you broke the sledgehammer with... resets... FAIL! So I couldn't finish this story, it was really promising up until that point, I have no idea how something so simple was looked over, but ah well. good map design, and atmosphere up until then.

CONFUSED ABOUT THIS ONE!

First thing to say, the lighting effects and overall level design is good. Work input visible, fun minigames, quite enough creativity.
Thats all good, there was art and there were things to praise.

Now the rest: Gameplay was lacking in so many ways that it made it boring more than once. You have to look everywhere, otherwise you get nowhere. There were very few monster encounters but the slime chase scene was brilliant.

This is solid 7/10 but would be much better if the gameplay was not so boring. I literally wanted to quit in the middle as the progress was very, very repetitive.

I started playing this custom story on 2015-06-29 and will update it periodically until I finish it.

-1 Objects that should be movable are not. Any similarity to Machine for Pigs is a scourge on an Amnesia custom story.
-1 You made a warp door... with tooltext on it... and it was not a warp door?
-1 I actually love custom stories that do not introduce a latern, but if you do that don't have the player walk through a half-lit area for half the story where I have to stick my head in corners to activate night vision.
-1 Plot was very minimal if not incomprehensible
+1 Level design

For me this is an amazing custom story with a great idea and level design, also pretty scary, and it's Christmas theme, what else could you be looking for? Can't wait for part 2!

It looked very promising- the design, lighting and structure was beautiful. However, there were glaring holes in grammar (English version) that broke the immersion into the story line. Also, there were no decent monster encounters, the scares were cheap, and really, this had nothing to do with Christmas at all. The story line itself didn't even make much sense, since it mentions an abandoned house many times but we never see it. Once we go all this way for a tinderbox, we finally get a lantern, but there's no way to come back if you decided to go to the second bonus room. Unless, of course, you use the debug tool to teleport yourself back. There should be a way to either keep the door opened or create a rondevue path to lead you back to the first area. Speaking of bonus rooms, there isn't much point in them, as they give you no prizes and leave your health and sanity worse than before. I tried really hard to like this mod but I just couldn't. I hope the next mod the author puts out will be better.

Fun to play, didnt really get scared.
And some flaws here and there.
Overall fun. nothign special.
7 for me.

A couple of jumpscares here and there but overall I liked it. The jumping minigame was a little rage inducing but it was ok.

I liked the purple flames in the candles however, it really gave them a touch of mysticism as one would say.

and I was like "How!" at the mainroom. Seriously, I have a thing for big, wide rooms and that one really was really impressive, yet simple.

I just didn't like the lighting as I could barely see anything.
