Legend of the Galactic Heroes (LoGH) is based on the Japanese animation series bearing the same name. LoGH is all about the epic battles between gigantic fleets of the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance. This mod will feature different political factions of the empire or the alliance. We aim to recreate the space opera feeling and the fleet tactics employed in the series. Research and economics will be reduced to a minimum and the main focus will be on tactics and fleet movements like in the series.

A fantastic game, that's the best space strategy game in existence for me - with combination through this mod with the ultimate space series.. Creates the perfect dream game. Fantastic modders successfully reforming the game without a doubt.

This mod sadly sacrifices gameplay in terms of "recreating" what's been seen on the screen. But if mods for soase have showed us anything than it's that soase's machanics allow for a deeper experience inside the universes we love so much.
This mod throws out all research to focus on space battles.
You start the game - immediately start building your ships - attack the enemy. And that's about it. There's no "real" diplomacy no research of ships and planet management has also made almost obsolete.
This mod wants to shine when it comes to the battles that made LOGH so impressive. And to some extent it does!
The music is perfectly chosen and will make you feel comfortable at once.
The new resource effects and symbols are extremely well made and show the dedication that went into them.
The ship textures - one of the most important aspects - range from great to right out horrible, while even the great ones often lack the certain three-dimensionality that they'd need and appear somewhat "flat".
Another major flaw is that most regular ships are practically the same ship with different textures and slightly different stats. Even capital ships have all the same generic skills(hello gamplay!)
The "support" ships try to make up for that but eventually fail to deliver.
The AI is only sub par and doesn't quite manage what this mod would need to compensate for the gameplay elements thrown out.
What's left is a decent looking mod with incredibly shallow gameplay that just feels "lacking" in so many departments.
Slowing down the pace of the game would've improved the space opera feeling by a landslide and having kept the research mechanics and significant planet management in the game would've not only allowed for a deeper gameplay experience but also for a deeper experience of the source material.
As a fan of LOGH I hoped that this would be the mod that would suck me into it's world and experience but in the end I'm still searching for it
Oh boy, let me tell you, if you're a science fiction fan, go to youtube and search "Legends of the Galactic Heroes". They're all english subbed by fan-subbing groups but its slow but awesome. The mod itself is a great artistic masterpiece. Ships are almost exactly detailed as in the OVA (Legends of the Galactic Heores, also known as LotGH, is over 110 episodes long in total with 4 movies attached... and every single one of them is awesome too). You don't play with small fleets, no you play with gigantic fleets clashing against each other in a game of shoot and scoot. This will push the game's limit to its limits. Expect the game to shut down because of RAM limitations.
Now, this game is awesome and is exactly what it is on the tin. Fleets are huge and battles are huge. Oh, did I forget to mention that you can have the fortresses too? You know the ones that Palpatine would nod appropirately and are so massive they have their own gravity well (we're easily talking billions/trillions of tons depending which sort of ton you're talking about)?
This game is recommended but be prepared to have your games crash every so often because of RAM limitations. This presses that limit to realms that are thought to be beyond the impossible. Really!
If you love science fiction in general, go watch the anime and play this mod. GET IT! GET IT NOW!
