First off - hello everyone ! Thank you for developing and still updating the HD mod of one, of my favorite games - Knights of Honor!

By playing your mod, I was really inspired to made something of my own and challenge myself to improve my developing skills! :)

I hope that this part of the forum is the best place to ask you for some tips and advises on the development process - if it's not, I am sorry for posing that topic in here.... I also apologize if my questions are not concrete enough... So:

1.Do you have some Irc / skype channel in witch the developing community can share ideas and advises?

2.What kind of software do you using for changing the units /buildings / heroes abilities/effects and skins (as far as I know, there is some app witch can pretty easy manipulate units and buildings but I am not sure.....) ?

3.Can you change the world map and create your own campaign (never seen that in a mod) ?

4.How do you improved the UI (It's so much better than the work of the original developers :D) ?

That's are my questions for now! I hope that someone have the time and knowledge to answer :)

Hi, I will try to answer on all your questions.
1. There is no Irc / skype channels, as far as I know, but there is active community on steam. Also there is few sites that that can be of use to you, if you wanna learn how to mod KoH. Forum.paradoxplaza.com , Strategie-zone.de

2. You can find tools for modding and descriptions on strategie-zone.de.
Essential:
- PakMan Unpacker
This program unpacks .pak archives, you need it to get to the data that can be modified (in2, ini, rle, bmp...).
- Use notepad for editing .in2 and .ini files.
- RLEViewer
Knights of Honor uses .rle files as graphics format. This program allow you to import and exported RLE files to .png or .bmp.
- Paint, GIMP, Photoshop or any other image editor for .png or .bmp files.

3. Yes, you can create world map and battle map with map editor.
Here you can find few mods with custom world map.

4. I'm not sure what do you mean, except that it is adapted for high-definition, UI is same as in original game. (It's possible to change UI elements, if you are interested in that)

Hi,

1) Menssie replied well ^^ I got skype but my english is not that good so i prefer write, between Menssie, n64Gamer and other contributors we are using ModDB chat and mail. You can join the group by sending me a mail or a PM.

2) I'm using notepad++ with is FAR FAR FAR better than the casual notepad from windows. I wrote code in python too, so i use Spyder (with PyQt5) and i'm using some script in batch (wrote with batch editor). I don't recommend to use Paint because of his no-capability of alpha layer (transparency) processing.

3) Maps are very common on KoH Modding ^^ See the modDB page and select "File" you will see many maps mod (shogun, amerika, armagedon...)

4) Menssie is right, we don't have changed the "World UI", but n64gamer have created many background for menu and selected another font. You can see it in the Font Folder of the game :) I can send you source file and PSD if you want.
