the stunning Chateau de Chenonceau built on a bridge over the River Cher about 200 miles southwest of Paris, France. The Tour des Marques in the background was the seat of a Baron or Lord that protected the local gentry and maintained order and collected titheing for the King. Originally, the Chateau was just the Tour (tower) and the bridge, built after the time of the first crusade, later on, the Chateau itself was built upon the bridge and later still, the Grand Galerie on the south end was added by the king's mistress whom was in residence there in the 1400's. The Chateau interior is replete with authentic Flemish tapestries from the era.
