Simply brilliant. I have played over a hundred mods for amnesia so to say this is one of the best ever really speaks volumes about its quality. This mod combines the atmospheric terror of tenebris lake and the originality and detail of Key to Freedom in a way that makes this a very unique and scary experience. Does have some bugs and the first level is a lag fest but overall this was an amazing mod and certainly one of the best for Amnesia TDD.

Well...
here's my review.

To start off, I had much trouble with this mod. It lagged, although I have a pretty good Laptop. I tried to reduce the lag, but I couldn't load the maps that caused the trouble, they crashed.
I never experienced lag this bad in Amnesia.

The story was good, the voice acting was brilliant. Although there were some notes which posessed much text, it wasn't boring reading them. I had fun getting to know the secrets of Davids and the castles story.
The map design was the best map design I've ever seen. There was so much creativity with different environments, lighting, room placement, billboards. I was admiring it to say the least.
The library was perfect: I love libraries in Amnesia, if they are done right, nothing can beat it. The painting scare was the best I've ever seen. All the lights went out, it became twisted and as I walked out of the room the picture hang in, I saw the ghost on the other side of the room. It was a WTF moment for me, but it felt great seeing such creativity with the scares.
By far the creepiest were the archives. The music... Oh god. It made me feel really uneasy, encounters with the ghost made this more worse. The athmosphere had taken me so much that I even dreamt about it! The puzzle in the archives was also very creative.
I particulary liked how the second key was found: The idea of throwing it off a shelf caused by the haunting of the ghost was genious! I'm definetely recycling this in my future projects.
The basemant was also eerie, concerning the ambient sounds such as scraping on the door or distant footsteps.

But now, we have to get to the nasty part. The Basemant and the Cellar lagged so bad I had to skip them. I set "08_mines" as the starting map and started a new game. Thus, I had no source of light, the matchbox was gone. I couldn't see anything most of the time.
The mines were another great part of this mod. There was so much creativity in them, I liked these types very much. I sucessfully sneaked around the monster and made my way to the mine tunnels.
What I also noticed were the supporting beams and frameworks you could climb. Loved the little Jump n Run part.
After the mines, it just became illogical. Skipping two maps skipped also the story and thus I was left confused. Also, I had no idea what the origins of these blind monsters was (maybe I skipped it or overlooked a note), there was no explanation why these things even existed. Werr they a hallucination or were they some ****** up experiments or cripples?
Also, I encountered a pretty funny bug:
After the monster had captured me, he broke the prison bars. I snuck out, but he spotted me and I hid in one of the cells. Knowing that if you hold a box in front of you, the enemies usually don't see you, I waited. He broke the door down and remained idle. The box I found in the cell which I held in front of me seemed to block him. I moved forward, he hit the box and I glitched through the floor into a narrow tunnel and a flashback started, while I got out of the tunnel. I don't know what happened and I don't want to know to be honest.
The ending confused me even more.

To put it in a nutshell:
In terms of level design and atmosphere the mod was one of the best I've ever played. But the lag ruined it for me.
I'd however be happy to replay it as soon as I have a better PC.

A little tip if you guys want to make another mod for Amnesia:
Don't put too much **** in the maps (mostly particles) and keep them small to medium sized. Then, even people with bad platforms can fully enjoy it.

It's comparable to the original game in quality and thought-out-fullness, I especially enjoyed the new lighting dynamic.
That being said, I've had to stop for the moment, I'll finish it once I'm not alone at home, I suggest you do the same.

Okay, so... This was my personal favorite for a short period of time. You can tell this mod was created with lots of love and passion by Red Line Games since they pushed the capabilities of HPL2 Editor to its limits in order to create this mod, which means that the least you can expect here is some damn amazing scripting.

POSITIVES: A unique story line which brings back many elements from the original Amnesia game, only shaped a bit different this time. It still remains a very scary mod if you manage to immerse yourself to it, and there is a new creepy enemy encounter which adds up to the mod's overall fear factor. Custom music is there, accompanied by superb level design. You won't find many cheap scares (which is a good thing in my opinion - I'd rather have few scares which are well placed than having 1000 every 3 seconds which are completely tasteless) and the atmosphere never ceases to be unnerving no matter where you are finding yourself. I loved the idea of having matches which only last some seconds instead of an oil lantern - I found it to be most exciting as it made me understand that I don't have the luxury of carelessly using my light source. The voice acting was excellent with every single voice actor perfectly nailing his role.

NEGATIVES: As much as I still love this mod, I have to be firm on its share of bugs and much confusing plot. I actually had to send a personal message to the creators in order to fully grasp what was happening (and, mind you, I still have unanswered questions). The ending leaves you with a lot of questions and is being illustrated to you by what's seemingly your daughter's drawings during the end credits rather than have you play through a chase or something like that. During 2 parts I also had to load back to a previous save file because it was impossible to progress out of the mod bugging itself.

Overall, it is a very well-made mod. I encourage everyone to at least try it out. It's scary, fun, and offers a different experience than most mods out there. I only hope that someday Red Line Games might actually either redesign or fix some parts of this mod through the new HPL3.

Hard to decide. I seriously wanted to rate this 9, but for the hard work and original monsters, 10/10.

I was expecting this to be another "Great Work" but it has something missing. I mean the mod itself is very good in almost every aspect but still.

+ Incredible level of details and level design
+ Original monsters with well made animation
+ Well balanced gameplay and puzzles
+ Atmosphere and music on very good level
+ Story and voice acting

The cons of this mod:

- BUGS - I broke the game at least twice and needed to reload because I could not continue
- Glitches - I can actually approach the "cutscene monsters" without being noticed or killed (???)
- Using the matches is smart but the matches go off too quickly even in comparison to real life matches but because it is new feature it is understandable
- Sometimes too dark, I did not see anything without using matches

Overall: 9.5/10 - very good mod but could be better, there is space for improvements.

It is my new favorite cs of all time. The level design is amazing. The voice acting is brilliant. The atmosphere is very creepy/haunting. Great story.

I'm definitely going to replay this.

(This review may contain spoilers) Just finished the mod and I gotta say I enjoyed it. Ill start with the positives; first off the match "replace the lantern" system was perfect! So many timesdid the match give me comfort in the dark... that is until it runs out haha but I liked the matchbox system gave decent lighting and a chill to the horrer aspect. atmosphere was spot on, I really liked how when paranormalish things were about to happen and the light soruces would flicker which is creepier than just say they go out, it really made me felt unnerved throughout the adventure. Another great positive is the mapping, I gotta say that this mod has one of the best mapping desgins i'v seen in amnesia I loved the adventure from start to finish I did encounter some fps drop at the beginning and in the mines but that didn't stop me from soaking up the environment! Another positive is the enemies themseleves, I loved them! they were very horrifying!(escpially the ghost, seeing her do things I normally wouldn't see in amnesia made me even look behind myself in real life! AH I love it when these custom stories use ghostly things, probably because iv seen the same old monsters over and over; this mod and Key to Freedom's ghosts are tied in my book of creepyiness) but one was underused in my opinion, but ill get to that later. Another positive is the voice acting MWAH MWAH MWAH job well done guys on the voice acting cant have a good story without good voice acting 10/10 on that! One last positive is the story, had me a bit confused at some parts but none the less was a great story one of the few mods where I actually read all the notes, and I also loved the loading screens adds a little story as you go neat idea guys. Now, down to my negitives that I didn't like personaly (SPOILIERS). to start off the main enemy (The Ghost) was underused, don't get me wrong your 1st playthrough of this game the ghost will leave you will chills through your spine! but after the end of the game you will see why I mean that it was under used like there was so many times I wanted to look back and see her stalking me or something but besides the painting part (WHICH WAS REALLY WELL DONE) that was the only time I saw her stalking me and she was never really a threat. Another thing to me I didn't like was how the atompshere kinda die down for me at the last quarter of the game a real shame. Also even though I loved the matchbox system it felt like the devs really missed a opertuiniy of being able to light things, since there was no tenderboxs and really urks me that I couldnt light candles and torches... with a DANG MATCH!!!! lol anyways I felt like it would have been a cool mechanic to add in there since like 90% of this game Is so dang dark and you will eat through matches like crazy if you get puzzled too long in dark areas but those un lit candels and torches will mock you all game. In the end, I give this game a 9 out of 10 its a great story and creepy game with a few things holding it back from me giving it a 10 out of 10 but you will no doubt et a creepy sensation and a great adventure in this story due to the devs putting a lot of time and effort into this mod ITS A MUST PLAY..... WELL WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR START DOWNLOAIDNG YOU IDIOT!

This has to be one of the most experienced team that made this MOD.
Words are insufficient - people just need to play this! As simple as that!
Music is great and brings the atmosphere up, new ideas that do not use the lantern, new monsters that are really tricky at times...

I have never felt so conflicted about an Amnesia mod before.

The good:
-Beautiful visuals
-Intriguing story
-Immersive world

The bad:
-Match system doesn't let you use fixed light sources like candles (doesn't make any sense)
-WAY too dark. I ran out of matches at one point and had to turn the gamma up all the way in order to see what the hell I was doing
-No autosaves. I had to reload and lose a lot of progress when I got stuck on some level geometry.

Still a definite 8/10 though!
