Imperial Afterglow - Total War is a Chinese mod based on the Medieval 2 Total War engine, created by the Mingfeng production team. The game starts in 1636 CE, nearing the end of the Ming Dynasty when Later Jin (precursor to the Qing Dynasty) conquered the Chahar Mongols and Hong Taiji proclaims himself Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. In June, the Qing army crossed Xifengkou and attacked the capital of the Ming Dynasty; in December, the Qing army entered Korea, and the "Byeongja Horan" in Korean history occurred. In the Central Plains, drought, pests, and plagues broke out, and the people could not survive. They rose up in revolt and the peasant armies moved to attack various places.
Imperial Afterglow is a MOD created by the 明风制作组 (Mingfeng) production team based on the Medieval 2 Total War engine, with a historical background set in the late Ming dynasty. The introduction states that the MOD's creator has a personal interest in the Ming dynasty and created the MOD for players who also enjoy the Ming and Qing dynasties. The historical background of the MOD starts in the year 1636 CE, when the Manchu Qing dynasty conquered the Chahar Mongols and established the Great Qing Empire. The MOD also covers the events of the "Byeongja Horan" in Korea in the same year and the peasant revolts in China due to drought, pests, and disease.

This MOD is based on the 汉魂 Total War mod by the 汉魂制作组, and the team thanks them for their authorization. Thanks also to the 亚洲王朝制作组 for the Da Xi light infantry model and to 忘尘 for some of the Qing soldier models. Some models were made by the team leader, 冉闵, for a previous mod called 问鼎华夏.
