When I launch this it crashes and leaves an error message such as this

Install Resistance Element in steam
I have the same problem, and I have the game installed.
Installed through Steam also installed the MMod patch and played through it. Crashing when I want to go into this hotel-looking area with a barnacle hanging in front of it. This is just after an outdoor section with zombies and barnacles that eat most of them and there's a turret.
Error message upon CTD: 771apartment_baddie3 - npc_fastzombie_torso: UTIL_SetModel: not precached: models/zombie/fast_torso.mdl
Good news is now patch is now reworked
Bug reporting: The gluon gun viewmodel and the icons for guns like it, the crossbow, the emplacement gun, and the Tau Cannon seem broken on this one. The patch by default doesn't use the HL2MMod custom folder, and setting it to do so does bring the Gluon gun model in but it uses the weapon switch animation for firing and the icons are still broken. Trying to use different addons for the Gluon gun and the icons doesn't seem to affect it for whatever reason.
