High resolution textures, higher render distance, better LOD quality, reflection and specular light tweaks.

Awesome work like always! I hope that it will not make the mod less stable thou, since 4K Textures are a very high resolution, for such an old game.

Well, you got a point. The game would be already unstable with my mod.

But thankfully there are tools like LAA, which can let the game call for more memory than by default.

Also dgVoodoo helps the performance on some configs too. That's why i included them by default.

But overall you can always compensate with strong hardware. The game is not crashing or anything so far.

Thanks! Yes, and especially if most textures are or will be 4k. Thou, isn't the 4K a bit of an overkill? Wouldn't the 2k be more than enough for the majority of things?

Yes, but with 4K I'm not sure, if 4 GB will be enough at the end. However, I haven't even played the latest version, since I haven't got the time for it.

What exactly does the dgVoodoo do? I know, it's a graphic wrapper, but I'm not sure, how does that improve performance.

My hardware is surely strong, especially for such an old game, even with the 4K textures.

A texture is just an image wrapped around a model. If the game is using only one "image" for a larger model, then even 4k might be low resolution.

I updated most things to 4k at this point, so you can see it ingame. You don't need to go too close to an object and see that the texture is a bit blurry. So i would say, even 4k is low in some cases. :P But yes, 4k can be overkill for many models.

I'm not an expert, so i don't know much about dgVoodoo and these things. It translates old API calls to a new one, which fits better for modern hardware+drivers. It might help address some hardware functions better (it can even fix graphics issues)

This mod had stutters with my Phenom II X4 965 CPU and dgVoodoo made it work perfectly. So it surely works. (Some people reported worse performance though.) I heard similar things about DXVK, fixing even newer games with bad optimization, e.g Witcher 1, GTA4.

So even if the game isn't rewritten with the new API, even putting it through a layer helps.

I understand, and I asked since the 2k Textures are more than enough, and with 4k textures, the game is more to crashing, especially, if there is just 4 GB Ram limit. Thou, with the BF1942 you don't get, nowhere such a high RAM usage as in other modern games.

As long as the textures, are amazing as they are I doubt, that there would be any low resolution content left, except the hands, which really need new textures and new models as well.

I see, and I will probably try it.

That's very interesting, considering, that's quite a great CPU, even today, especially, when there is still a lack of a good CPU.

Description

Updated surface map textures for better ground details in the map "Operation Market Garden". It takes extreme amount of time to work on this shit. Sorry for lack of updates.
I will show comparison images too, once it's fully finished.
Also i add more objects to this map, but it's not visible on this screenshot.
