Welcome to the world of Warhammer Fantasy, a world embroiled in the struggles of men, elves, dwarfs and other monstrosities, each vying to dominate or destroy. Set over five hundred years before the reign of Karl Franz, the War of Three Emperors is in full swing, the Empire of man fractured. Sensing weakness, foul monsters are stirring in the tainted lands of Sylvania, the mighty progenitor of the von Carstein bloodline, Vlad, has raised a mighty horde and seeks to subjugate the disparate peoples of Ulric, Taal and Sigmar.
In the frigid north, Kislev expands its dominion, seeking to subjugate the nomadic northmen in the name of Ursun, whilst fending off Chaos and Norscan attacks from the north and west. The Tzarina's rule is ice, but will it hold against the fires of Chaos?
The barbaric Norscans continue to raid and pillage the civilised world, no longer united in one high kingdom, they are still a significant threat. And yet, there remains traces of that unity amongst the relatively civilised southern norscans. Perhaps they can once again unite, and threaten the old world in the name of their gods once more.
The Myrmidian Empire fell millenia ago, its people split apart. Estalians and Tileans at each other's throats over petty issues, the once united provinces split apart into many independent rulers. What remains amongst them in a unified worship of Myrmidia, and through her worship the empire may yet rise again.
The ruins of the ancient empire of Strygos, now the barren and desolate badlands, remain a stronghold of the vile greenskins, orc and goblins warring with each other for sport and in an effort to become “da biggest”. Their antagonism towards each other perhaps the only thing stopping them from expanding outwards unstoppably. And yet, deep in dark, dank caves across the old world, undead, bestial monstrosities lie in slumber, eyeing up the chance to reclaim glory lost in ages past.
The Dark Lands is a stark and cheerless place where nature has rent the ground and burst the mountains apart. Amongst the peaks volcanoes spew black smoke into the filthy sky. In the plains the stench of tar pits and oil pools hangs heavily in the air. Steaming lava from beneath the earth's crust covers the ash wastes with a blanket of bubbling magma. Here, the Chaos Dwarfs reside in their sorcerous enclaves, surrounded by rampaging greenskins and undead abominations. Yet strong they remain, dedicated to Hashut.
To the east of the Darklands lie the Mountains of Mourn, filled with orcs and gluttonous ogres, seeking to satiate their ever-hungry god through excessive feasting.
Many are the inhabitants of this world, and varied are their goals. But they are all alike in their desire for greatness. Warhammer: Hexenstag allows you to take the role of any one of them, and achieve the glory you were always destined to.
