Final v1.20 - fixed Centaurs not doing any Melee damage
Final update version 1.20 - fixed Centaurs not doing any Melee damage
Previous updates:
update 1.1 minor fixes: Final weapons fixed (both mods integrated into a single file)
update 1.1 minor fixes:
Final weapons fixed (both mods integrated into a single file)
the file Hex_Balance.pk3 is not needed anymore, only Hex_Veteran.pk3
(video footage Axe didn't work, it's fixed now)
(cosmetic) Dynamic Lights for items and weapons
from Hex Rebalanced Beta and Brutal Hexen RPG (awesome work!)
(it surprised me that gzdoom does not have lights for items
by default for Hexen, how lazy... Doomsday port has it...)
Weapons back to classic slot numbers 1 to 4 (mostly vanilla weapons, untouched)
A_FreezeDeath changed to insta-death
(if anyone finds a way to change Zscript to modify timer, it would be better)
(cosmetic) Lava glow
enemies and bosses mostly vanilla untouched, besides lower HP and centaurs half shield time
Launch:
you can either use the included shortcut (edit path, copy paste)
or drag-drop the PK3/ZIP/WAD files over gzdoom.exe
gzdoom 4.5.0 is recommended for this package
because it was the first version that offered the option of switching
between Software and Hardware renderers on the fly without restarting
and also gives you Fullscreen without changing desktop resolution
so all your window positions are not lost or icons displaced...
this feature was removed or tweaked later on, for whatever reason...
The mod in itself is only 1 Meg in size, most of the filesize is due to including gzdoom 4.5.0 and MIDI soundfont in the package...
Tested with both Hexen and expansion Deathkings to completion, both games can be completed with this mod.
There is a bug with gzdoom in Hexen:
if you teleport to another map BEFORE finishing all the requirements for any particular Script (let's say "Activate these 7 switches here to open a door") then the Script stops running at all.
Always keep saves at the start of each Hub to prevent softlocks. I confirmed it and this bug does not occur in original DOS game, so it's a bug introduced by gzdoom.
It can be more easily perceived in Hub 4, you will not be able to obtain the 4th Clock Gear because the lift won't go down.
In such case, open the console and use the code "puke 22" so the lift goes down (And for the Axe key behind bars in the Gibbet map, use "puke 24" I got lost there too)
