Ghost Recon on Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and later
As this comes up more and more often now, I figured it might be worth a separate topic. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and later versions do not support running legacy applications like Ghost Recon anymore. A simple solution to play GR on modern Macs is to use the PC version of the game inside a Wineskin Winery wrapper that acts as a normal Mac app and provides full compatibility with the PC version of Ghost Recon (including expansions, mods, online/LAN multiplayer etc.).
I've prepared an empty wrapper that is fully SP/MP compatible and even allows all intro/outro video to be played. Just download, expand the archive, double-click the app and install GR either from its original setup.exe or by just copying the "Red Storm Entertainment" folder from a PC to the "Program Files" folder on the virtual C: drive inside the wrapper.
It's basically the same for installing a mod. For manual (drag and drop) installation, right-click the wrapper, select "Show Package Contents", navigate to "drive c:/Program Files/Red Storm Entertainment/Ghost Recon/Mods", drop the mod into this folder and activate it in the game's options menu. Alternatively, you can use a mod's installer executable (.exe). Right-click the wrapper, select "Show Package Contents", double-click the Wineskin icon, and click the "Install Software" button.
In conclusion, this is really neat - the Wineskin wrapper allows to install the PC version of Ghost Recon (including expansions and mods for PC) on any modern Mac, fully cross-platform compatible with feature parity! The performance is absolutely on par with the native version too, i.e. I see no performance degradation when using the wrapper on my Mac compared to a native GR install on my PC.
A cool little side-effect of this wrapper is that all Ghost Recon mods for PC are suddenly fully Mac compatible!
Enjoy Ghost Recon (and mods) for PC on Mac!

NOTE: It looks like Mac OS X 10.7.5 & 10.8.2 Update breaks Wine completely. Even Codeweaver's Crossover is completely broken after the update and they are working with Apple on a fix. I'll have a look at what can be done to resolve this, but it may take some time. Sorry about the inconvenience.
UPDATE: Wrapper is now updated/fixed for use with Mac OS X 10.7.5 & 10.8.2 and should work just fine. Download link above points to the new version. It's also a lot smaller now. :)

New wrapper is ready for download. Some performance and stability tweaks, plus I've added a (preliminary) helper app to make things a bit easier.
Updated the wrapper download with a new helper app. Any feedback is welcome.
Updated the wrapper with latest CX engine and loads of new enhancements. Verified on a couple of different Macs with various versions of OS X, including 10.10.3 Yosemite. Yes, the new wrapper finally works on the latest and greatest Mac OS X!
The included Helper application has a couple of new features too, like support for the Igor Game Editor, mod management etc.
Oops, had a little bug in there that prevented installing from local executables. Updated the wrapper again with a quick fix for now (new version 2015.4.22), but I might as well rewrite the whole messy thing (it was pretty much thrown together in a hurry, so far) e.g. to enable the GOG and Steam versions of Ghost Recon in a future release.
