Ohh, I love the powerful opener. It's funny, Sotp has its own style, and in its own way has a place with the other halo soundtracks. Much like halo wars differed from the standard halo style you guys have a sound that is clearly halo inspired but all your own. I hope that one day you guys might put your soundtracks on Spotify or something for people to enjoy, assuming that's even possible, legally speaking.
It is possible, and it will most definitely be happening - All the music in SOTP 2 is an original score, so no re-use of melodies from any official halo title. A spotify/pandora release will happen as soon as humanly possible. <3
This got me thinking randomly about the old soundtrack, whatever happened to the OST that was in the early versions of SOTP 1? It just was kind of unceremoniously replaced, unless I missed a post as to why.
Waseem (the original composer) left the team several years ago for personal reasons. I'm not privy to the details as to why, and whether or not he wanted his music to stay in SOTP, but the decision to change the music and bring me on to write new music was made by Unikraken and Idio sometime in 2018.
The News post "Introduction: Spacebat" goes into detail how that came to be. Older builds of the mod (Pre 2019) have the old music still in the game files if you so desire to preserve copies of that music for yourself.
Sins of the Prophets, and more specifically Sins of the Prophets 2, is having a big departure from the state of the mod before that time: many of the visual assets are being overhauled and a majority of the voice lines are being redone or updated/remastered; it seemed only appropriate to have a soundtrack made in the same vein.
It does, thank you very much for answering. I actually did go back and download the old version for the soundtrack the other day. Thanks for being transparent about it.
Awesome!
Especially the part from 1:20,
but IMHO at 2:00 it feels like the chorus was cut too short,
like there's need to be another long falling "aaaahhhh" to finish the peace.

I hope that answers your question <3
