Those ships are amazing. How big are they compared to normal sins ships?

I think 2.5 km, off the top of my head.

Neither! Quick question: When the Athens "warps" into system, do the planets in system start orbiting the Athens? Cause that thing is HUGE!

2.5 kilometers is nothing when compared to other sci-fi ships.

Yeah but when you try to be realistic about the situation of what could be possible i highly doubt the human race would ever feel the need to create something larger than 2.5 kilometers. When ships get any bigger than that you really are just wasting resources because you could build a few destroyers with the same amount of resources in the same time ( give or take a bit) and be able to cover a larger region of space than just one super sized ship.

And what proof do you have that 2.5km is the limit of what we'd want to build? We've never put anything even remotely armored in space, and probably never armed with anything more than a missile or two. Not to mention the technoligies we may or may not have in the future. Why wouldn't that number be smaller or larger?

Take into account the number of longswords that carrier has inside of it compared to the destroyers. It can cover the same space way faster with those fighters.

Epic. And that's accurate considering a single longsword could fit in a frigate. It has to be pretty large to be a carrier.

Actually, I'm pretty sure UNSC frigates fielded more than just one Longsword. For example, in the Chi Ceti Incident, the frigate UNSC Commonwealth fought a Covenant light cruiser. At the end of the engagement, the Commonwealth sent out a squadron of Longswords to occupy the cruiser for a little bit while it got a safe enough distance to detonate a SHIVA nuke at the Covenant vessel.

So I don't know where you got that figure.

Sounds sketchy as a Longsword's wingspan is half the width of a frigate.

I saw a scale chart between a heavy frigate along with a longsword and it looked as if it could only fit one. If I find the picture again I'll post it here.

Paris-Class is 199m wide and a Longsword is 75m wide. The measurement is taken from the widest part of both vessels, being the frigate's nacelles. A Longsword obviously cannot dock inside the frigate's cargo hold. I'm sure a Pelican, albeit cramped, would be able to. They barely fit into the Forward Unto Dawn.

I think that is a hugh discrepancy, as it is the only time that its' mentioned about a longsword squad being attached to a frigate.
Then again, I don't think the writers always think that the readers will pick it apart when it comes to detail

I would think it's more to do with writers having one image in their head, and the artist a very different one.

But yeah, there's no way a longsword can fit inside of a normal frigate. If you want a canon work around, just assume that the longswords were strapped onto the outside of the frigate for the purposes of transport in a pinch, or were part of a local garrison and were attatched to the ship while it was in system.

You might want to re-work your texture on the carrier since the scale of detail is really off (Archer pods, escape pods, etc.)

No, the Athens is a normal carrier

Speaking of which, why is it called the Athens class? AFAIK the only "UNSC Athens" was an ONI prowler

Actually I am pretty sure that the UNSC carrier is 3km long, I think the super carrier is 5km long... if I am wrong, please tell me where your sources are...
I get my info from halo pedia and halo wiki (yes I know they both may not be the most accurate)

Thats pretty much what I just said. Are you arguing against the other guy? I know the UNSC super carrier is 5km long and the normal carrier is only 3km.

The others have to be retextured. The actual ship list for the UNSC is 95% finished. We just want them all to look the same. They were pretty "diverse" before.

great job but i gotta point out one thing im noticing with the destroyer heart of midlothian " vessels of this classification are only seven meters longer than a UNSC frigate, they have almost double the mass"- str8 from fall of reach , this looks like more than 7m to me but other than that the models look great

We at SotP feel the canon scale isn't realistic. A Paris-class frigate should not be larger than a destroyer. So that is one area where we will be making some adjustments.

Sure it matters who has the biggest stick but it matters a hell of alot more whos swinging it. . . Thats what they used to say before size really just overuled that theory.

Yes, until we created tiny nukes and stealth, the it became, "Sure it matters who's got the smallest stick, but it matters a hell of a lot more who's not swinging it, 'cause they're gonna get their *** nuked!"

Well, here's a fleet scale chart, but with a catch: Annihilater textured models only. Just as well, since we're re-doing a lot of the ships anyways to fit with the new aesthetic.

I'll keep updating you as the ball keeps rolling.
