Sahara-class Heavy Prowlers are the most commonly-deployed prowlers in the fleet. As the largest and most heavily-armed stealth ships in the Navy, they are the most suited for supporting combat operations. A Sahara-class Prowler is assigned to all naval battlegroups as a support and reconnaissance asset. Among prowler squadrons, they act as task force commanders for flights of smaller Razor-class vessels. Two EMP pulse cannons, a complement of HORNET nuclear mines, and a rack of Shiva nuclear missiles allow the Sahara to punch above its weight in stealth ambushes, or seed orbital space with hidden mines.
