A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
KillaBC posted this very nice render of our Halcyon in the forums, so I figured I might as well give it to a larger audience.
Damn that is a fine looking ship
One fine anti-Covenant killing machine.
That's stunningly amazing
(buried)
And dead within 4 plasma torpedos
It's a Halcyon, they are famous for taking obscene amounts of punishment.

A normal Cruiser would Stand two hits and Trust me i know evrything of the halo ships from the Paris Class frigate to the fenix class

The stupid is strong with this one
sry for my bad english
bud admit i am right
The Pillar of Autumn survived a shot from a Covenant Supercruiser which annihilated even the most heaviest UNSC warships at Reach, with a single shot (The PoA had no upgrades to its armor thickness or anything). And, heck, thanks to its honeycombed interior design, it remained alive and strong enough to endure a quadrillion more plasma torpedoes. (The quadrillion is an over-exaggeration, but I do know it got hit more than four times.)
the pelican on the left got a bit to much motion blur but none the less it looks awesome.
Nice MAC.
Overkill on the blur.
Personally, I'd say you need to get him to create two different drafts of his videos/renders, one with and one without any kind of motion/distance blur. Why? I've hardly ever seen any kind of blur used in Halo. It doesn't look right - Not to mention that almost-all games don't use in this manner just because of how video-game engines are designed.
Heck, even post both and see what the community think, I believe that the previous video would have been a lot better without any of it.
Most games don't use it but animations and CGI certainly do. Usually when a fast object comes in and hits your peripheral vision it distorts because of how light behaves and is out of focus. If this was moving it would look better but because this was done as a still that's how it came out.
It also puts more focus on the Halcyon which is the primary focus.
On motion blur itself in games; most don;t use it because it is incredibly system heavy. Even rendering it can be a resource hog. Now we have the 'next gen' of consoles. Expect to see it more often and depth of field in your games.
Mmm, that's true, but I'd still like to see a version without. I mean, have you looked at two seperate versions, one with and one without, and then decided which looked better?
Perhaps sent both drafts to Unikraken or Canada and see their opinions?
Ultimately, after all is said and done, you might actually end up with a combination of both after realizing that some of it was appropriate and some of it wasn't.
On another note, as to motion blur in games, I'm probably biased as I also disable the option. (I'd actually thought that most players did.) Sure, it may be more realistic, but depending on your beliefs it actually detriments from the experience. But, as for my bias, it makes me feel sick and feel like the game is doing something unnatural. (Unnatural for a game, that is, not reality.
To be honest, no one really is too concerned with it. Why? Because KillaBC took time out of their day to create something awesome like this.
I know constructive criticism is a good thing, but there is a thing as over doing it to the point that it's more of a insult.
Constructive criticism only becomes an insult when you allow yourself to believe it is.
I'm not intending any of my comments, ever, to be insults. I'm sorry if people see it that way, but heh, that's just my way of giving back feedback. Hopefully people can see past their instincts and realize this.
Was this a video made just using the mods models?
A render, using the mod's models. No video.
Space dock control this is Pelican 317 requesting permission to dock with Pillar of autumn.
Pelican 317 permission granted.
