A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
The Orion-class, introduced in 2538 in an effort to improve UNSC chances of success against Assault Carriers, is the ultimate ship-to-ship combat vessel. Armed with massive twin experimental MACs, it boasts the longest engagement range of any known UNSC or Covenant ship. Typically undergoing deployments in hunting pairs in addition to smaller escorts, they rely on reported sightings of their elusive and dangerous prey to track them deep into Covenant-occupied territory.
You know how this works, guys:

Im liking the second one.
Actually now that I think about it i wouldn't use either of the ships i would in fact use a combination of the two ships. The long prow of the second ship with some additional armor around the bow end of it similar to the way the first ship has
definately like your idea after looking at it for a while too.
Ain't it peachy?
I would like the second one. But it would have the bulky armor from the prow of the first ship on the long prow of second ship giving it that late unsc covy era war, where the UNSC used the plasma soaking armor points. The middle of the first ship looks nothing a UNSC ship would look like, it's not halo looking. The second looks more halo just needs maybe 1 or 2 centimeters longer but other than that its awesome.
#2 If you can't combine them both.
Damn 73 up votes? Didn't know that was logically even possible lol
Go with the 2nd! It keeps with the look that most UNSC ships look like.
#2/model on the right side
As cool as the first one is the second one looks more UNSC.
Yeah second for me
Second for me. Love it.
Keep in mind these are WIP and will change a little/have more detail added.
i say the first one, the second one looks too much like the unsc infinity
The one on the right.
The one on the right definitely looks better than the left one. (my opinion)The right one looks like the rail gun from Halo 4 and more fits the UNSC style of ships and shows the power of the ship through it's long slender body which it needs to get the MAC round up to speed.
The one to the right is indeed based heavily off the Halo 4 railgun design.
i liked the old one better:(
its not just the fact that it looks like a railgun platform, the one on the left lacks the stereotypic hexagonal look of the UNSC ships that the one on the right has.
Definitely the one on the right.
yeah im going for the Right, the Mac design of it looks like it could pack a punch vs a Covie Carrier,or any other ship opposing it
The right one, much more UNSC looking!!!
yep the one on the right looks good....slender,and deadly hate to fly my covie carrier in front of those monsters
right. is this going to be one of the capitals
Yup, Orion is the dedicated cap-hunter Capital ship role type.
I prefer the one on the right. It looks more like a ship that would have a deadly MAC.
Contrary to nearly everyone else, i think the left one looks more like a cap hunter/killer than the right. Sure the 'Two-pronged' design is UNSC basic but when it comes to needing something different i think the odd designs are better and make more sense... just my opinion though.
I'm with you though im guessing the right one is going to be the one in game ...
My personal problem with the one on the left is that it looks to alien, to slim if you will, to be a UNSC vessel
I like both, I think either would fit with a little more work. I think the left one is my choice (#1) but it would seem #2 is going to win this one in a landslide. I just like that the one on the left has a different feel to it, like a real prototype ship would. It deviates from the norm too, makes things more interesting to look at for hours at a time.
(buried)
Humm....a oversize 40K plasma rifle vs an oversize Halo 4 Gauss rifle. I think I will prefer to stick with canonical accuracy.
No, just no.
The right one for me. Looks great!
unanimous
its the one on the right
Honestly, i think the left one. Alot of UNSC ships look the same, and it would be nice to tell what a ship is right away just by glancing at it.
the on the right looks better
the right one >>> #2
the right side
For the one on the Right!
the one on the right
I like both haha.
the one on the right looks more UNSC
I also Vote for the one on the right.
The one on the right, absolutely. It looks much more UNSC'ish.
I vote for the one on the right.
How long is it going to be looks as long or longer than the smac? If the twin macs are as powerful or more powerful it would make it longer or shorter than the smac?
The second one bro, looks sick! :)
I believe the one on the right is getting the most votes. Which i agree with. Because it has that functional design that appears as though it would be easy to mass produce by a military force. Also the first one looks a bit more like a trading vessel due it compartments that are visible on the outer hull.
See I took the compartments to be armor plating, this thing is supposed to be a covenant capital ship hunter, so it would need LOTS of armor plating to deal with the plasma torpedoes.
You would think that but in reality the plasma melts through armor regardless of how thick it is. The thickness only determines how long it takes for the plasma to get through the armor while the one on the right seems to be a more agile version that can evade plasma easier.
True enough.
You would be correct except for two things, the Titanium-A that the UNSC uses for armor has a rather high heat tolerance and though 2-3 plasma torpedoes does the trick, one will not continue to melt it's way through the armor and then the hull as it would lose vast amounts of heat energy in the process, more than one can offer anyway. Not to mention that with greater thickness in armor comes a greater amount of material to melt through and impart heat energy upon before causing any critical damage. I'm not saying plasma torps aren't powerful, they are vastly so. I'm just being nit-picky on the finer details of such interactions.
In either scenario more people seem to like the one on the right
yeah almost unanimously
